The 2017 Challenge Cup was hosted at Bowes Creek CC in Elgin,
Ill., July 15-16. The IJGA Team took an early lead this year, earning
5.5 points during the first day, while the Prep Tour Team earned
only 2.5 points. The first day consisted of 8 partner matches, the
first six holes were best ball, the next six holes were alternate shot
and the final six holes were a scramble.
The final day consisted of 16 singles matches. There were four
matches that ended all square, five matches that went to the
Prep Tour Team and seven matches were won by the IJGA Team
members. The event ended with the IJGA Team retaining the cup
after posting 14.5 points to the Prep Tour Team’s 9.5 points.
The Challenge Cup is a match play event, which puts the IJGA
against the Prep Tour. The event, which began in 2015, brings
together some of the top junior golfers in the state of Illinois to
compete for the Challenge Cup. Click here for more history of the
