How to know when you are ready to play in the majgt ....

One of the most common things we get asked about is how to know when you are ready to play in the MAJGT . The MAJGT was started as a branch of the IJGA , giving golfers who were ready for the next step the ability to play longer course yardages and harder courses . The ultimate goal is to help players earn national recognition without having to travel across the country .
Every junior golfer is different , maybe one is ready to play in the MAJGT at age 12 , while another one should hone their skills playing in the IJGA Junior Elite Events and Players Challenges . There is no one factor that can tell you if a particular junior golfer is ready to play in the MAJGT , but there are a few suggestions we do have .
If you are new to competitive golf we encourage you to gain experience in single-day tournaments and IJGA multi-day events such as Junior Elite Events and Players Challenges before starting to play in the MAJGT . The harder course set-ups can be very discouraging to junior golfers who might not be ready to play in an elite level event .
If you are someone who has finished in the top 50 percent of the field in a Players Challenge , then you are probably ready to play in the MAJGT . In fact , many of the players who play in the Players Challenges are already playing in MAJGT events in addition .
Players who have played in Junior Elite Events and have finished atop the leaderboard several times could also be ready to play in MAJGT events , with the understanding that the yardages are going to be considerably longer , with the potential for long carries . It is important to understand that the length and difficulty of the course set up are significantly longer and harder for an MAJGT event than what is typical for a Junior Elite Events or Players Challenges .
