used, surveys should be carefully worded so
that owners understand that while the board
is making an ultimate decision on the matter,
the board is soliciting feedback from the
owners to help make the decision. Presented
properly, surveys can be a powerful tool for
combatting owner apathy.
Owner apathy is an unfortunate issue facing
most associations. A lack of apathy can be a
bad thing when owner involvement is limited to
those times when owners are upset and want
to complain to or even yell and scream at the
board. A strong sense of community, however,
will often quell the unease and create strong
bonds that will make any association stronger
and better. Take the time to create the sense
of community that every association needs
and the rewards will be fantastic.
