Extreme cold is cold. Really cold, you just won't believe how vastly chilly, mind-bogglingly cold it is. I mean, you may think it's really cold walking down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to extreme cold.

In the past, extreme cold was in Antartica, and the Arctic, leaving the rest of the world nice and warm. But now, because of global warming, we are having frequent bouts of extreme cold, with occasional blizzards in America!

Over 1/5000 Americans die from extreme cold.

Here is a guide. No, the guide, to extreme cold. Enjoy.

What to wear?

In the extreme cold, it is vitally important to wear the correct things. You may think it's easy keeping warm, but just a coat will not be enough in such extreme weather!

Bearing that in mind, I have compiled a list of what to wear in extreme cold.

Firstly, one must always make sure to wear a thick, waterproof coat. In extreme cold, it is often still quite wet, so waterproofs are advised. Also, the coat will stop some of the cold from getting to you.

Below the coat, a jumper, fleeze or cardigan should be worn. It can help add protection from the cold.

Next, multiple layers of clothing. You may think that just one thick top is enough, but it isn't. Wear many thin layers. The cold will find it difficult to traverse between them.

This brings us to socks. Wear three or more pairs of regular socks. Thick wooly socks may seem better, but once again it will stop the cold.

Atop your socks, wear thick boots, tucking your trousers into them for maximum warmth. Make sure they are waterproof.

Next, headgear. If you have a pair of goggles, wear them. It doesn't matter if they're swimming goggles! Anything that protects your eyes and eyelashes is good.

Finally, wear hats, gloves, scarves and if possible a balaclava for maximum warmth.
