A WORD FROM THE CHEF

As we bid farewell to a busy spring ( and busy it was !) We are looking forward to the joys of summer cuisine . As a chef , I have always enjoyed the abundant flavors of this time of year , especially the ripe , juicy fruits . There is a special joy in balancing the hot weather by having soups and salads made with watermelons and peaches ! Not only is this time of year great for the most flavorful fruits , but it is also the best time of year for savory vegetables like corn . Our goal with this next menu is to celebrate the abundance and vibrancy of the season . So look forward to new menu items like my famous corn fritters , summer gazpacho , and other appetizers that will awaken the palate .
Speaking of soups , I am honored and grateful that so many of you have enjoyed sharing my soup recipes , so we are looking forward to creating and sharing a video blog this summer where you can join me while I make dishes -like those famous soups- from scratch !
There will , of course , be great new entrees on our menu too ! Summer supper with family and friends was always my favorite , and nothing evokes the essence of Summer like the rich smoky flavors of meat cooked outdoors ! My team and I have mined old family recipes and created new ones to help showcase our smokehouse selections , so when you have a plate of smoked ribs or chicken with pineapple BBQ sauce , you are sharing and tasting Virginia culinary history with every bite ! With that said , I invite you to join us on this journey of culinary exploration and seasonal celebration . Whether you ’ re a longtime patron or discovering us for the first time , we strive to deliver an unforgettable experience filled with warmth , flavor , and the unmistakable charm of Colonial Heritage .
My team and I get the same sense of satisfaction whether we have made a great dining experience for 2 or 200 , so whether you are joining us for a summer-themed party or a romantic sunset dinner for 2 on the veranda , we look forward to providing you with a delicious memory to savor ! The Parrot Head Party - July 26 Kick off the summer fun with The Parrot Head Party on July 26 . Inspired by the laid-back lifestyle and music of Jimmy Buffett , this event promises an evening of island escapism . Residents are encouraged to don their favorite Hawaiian shirts , leis , and flip-flops as they enjoy some Jimmy Buffet Tunes , tropical drinks , and delicious island-inspired cuisine . With vibrant decorations and a lively atmosphere , this event is perfect for those looking to relax and unwind with friends and neighbors in a tropical paradise .
The 20th Anniversary Pool Party - August 3 On August 3 , Colonial Heritage Club will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a grand pool party . This milestone event is set to be a spectacular day of fun in the sun . The pool area will be transformed into a festive venue with decorations , games , and activities for all ages . Whether you want to take a dip in the pool , participate in water games , or simply lounge by the water with a refreshing drink , this party is the perfect way to commemorate two decades of community and camaraderie at Colonial Heritage .
Boots and Buckles Ball - August 16 Rounding out the summer events is the Boots and Buckles Ball on August 16 . This country-themed evening will have residents putting on their best Western attire and dancing the night away . With a DJ and plenty of line dancing , this event promises to be a boot-stomping good time .
