4. Increase Turmeric Intake
Turmeric is a yellow spice which is used to flavor food. It is also a potent antioxidant with anti- inflammatory properties. Avoid using turmeric if you have ulcers, gall stones and bile duct obstruction.
6. Identify and Avoid Trigger Foods
Foods suspected to trigger acne include: 1. Trans fats which are found in processed foods 2. Spicy foods 3. Dairy foods like milk, cheese 4. Alcohol 5. Soda To identify your trigger foods, keep a food diary so that you can record everything you ate during the 24 hour period that preceded an acne flare up.
5. Avoid Iodide Rich Foods
Avoid foods that are rich in iodides like iodized table salt, shell fish, seaweed and kelp powder. This is because dietary iodides are excreted from the body through the oil glands and they may contribute to flare up due to impactions. Substitute the iodized salt with sea salt which has a lower iodine content.
