Cell phones
have become
a household
thing in the
past few years
and no one
can imagine
living without a
mobile phone
nowadays.
T
hey help in
communicating,
texting, surfing the
internet, watching
videos, checking
emails, playing games and
many other things.
The present day adults who
have started using mobile
phones are first exposed
to mobile radiation in their
thirties or forties but present
day children are exposed to
mobile radiation from the
first day of their life even as
early as when they are in their
mother’s womb.
Cell phones emit microwave
radiation, which have
many biological effects like
brain metabolism changes,
activation of heat shock
proteins and DNA damage.
As per Swedish Oncologist
Lennart Hardell, children
and teenagers are five times
more likely to develop a type
of brain cancer called Glioma
if they use mobile phones
before 20 years of age.
Dr. Rakesh Jalali, Neuro-
oncologist at Tata Cancer
Hospital, Mumbai, cautions
that using cell phones for
more than 6 hours a day, for
more than ten years may
cause brain tumors.
Holding a cell phone near
your head is like holding a
low- powered microwave close
to your brain. Additionally
some studies also suggest that
children’s cell phone usage
could result in hearing loss if
they use it an hour a day or
more and death of auditory
nerve cells. A cell phone can
emit microwave radiation from
antenna within 6 inches of the
body- so the farther away it is
