It’s vital that we prepare ourselves to meet increased demand while maintaining financial sustainability and quality of care this year. This means putting the right systems in place that inspire trust and confidence With a new year full of promises and deliverables from our team, it’s a good chance to reflect on the year that’s been and focus on what we want to achieve in the year ahead. 10 THE HEALTH TRACK JANUARY - MARCH 2018 I am so proud of our employees and their involvement with Medical Education Aid Kenya MEAK in partnership with Jain Social Group, who have conducted several medical missions in Kenya to date, providing care to the less fortunate members of the population. We held a successful cardiac camp from 25 th January to 2 nd February 2018 with over 170 patients getting screened and 21 successful open heart surgeries were conducted with a leading international team of Doctors, perfusionists and nurses. This was first time the hospital used its high-end heart and lung machine. This quarter the M P Shah hospital also partnered with East African Heart Rhythm project with the goal of helping our population with cardiac diseases in East Africa. The project’s focus lies in the organization and performance of pacemaker operations in Kenya. In January 2018 we have been able to implant cardiac pacemakers in 10 patients. By the end of January 2018, we had treated several critically ill patients flow in from Mogadishu, Somalia and repatriated them in excellent health. M.P Shah Hospital has launched its second phase of Kaizen journey. Kaizen is a management system, and a philosophy that is assisting in improving the way M P Shah Hospital is now organized and managed. Kaizen has strengthened the hospital for the long term – reducing costs & risks while also facilitating growth & expansion. Its methodology improves the quality of care for patients by reducing errors & waiting time. The first phase of this Kaizen journey has shown amazing results and we have launched five new projects to roll out Kaizen in different areas. Kaizen has supported employees & physicians, eliminating bottlenecks & allowing them to focus on providing care. None of what we do can happen without the efforts of our entire hospital team – including supporters, donors, volunteers, community and committee members who play a leading role in the work we do and support the work that we do. I thank the God almighty and all of you for your ongoing support.
