Built in a Garage, Growing Through Trailers

From outdoor power equipment to trailers, M & H Equipment Service has built its business by recognizing opportunity where others might not.

What began as two technicians helping stranded customers after a dealership closure has grown into a diversified Connecticut operation, proving that adaptability can be just as important as technical expertise.
Founded in 2014 by Patrick Howell and Neil Mongeau, M & H Equipment Service traces its roots to the landscape and outdoor power equipment industry. After the dealership where the two technicians worked abruptly closed, leaving hundreds of customer repairs unfinished, Patrick and Neil stepped in to complete the work themselves. What started as a temporary effort to help customers quickly evolved into a business of its own.

As word spread, so did the business. The company eventually moved into a 2,300-square-foot shop in Litchfield, Connecticut. From there, M & H expanded beyond repairs, growing into a trusted outdoor power equipment dealer serving landscape contractors, municipalities and commercial customers throughout the region. While outdoor power equipment provided the foundation, the company’ s next phase of growth would come from an entirely different direction. A move to a new location placed M & H in a location that eventually reshaped the trajectory of the business.
