When you’ re rolling into Nashville for the NATDA Trailer Show, there’ s one thing on everyone’ s mind besides trailers: where to get the best hot chicken in Music City. We asked veteran trailer industry professionals to share their go-to spots. Here’ s where the industry gets their fix.
Hattie B’ s Hot Chicken | The Fan Favorite
Let’ s be honest: Hattie B’ s is basically the unofficial hot chicken restaurant. It’ s everywhere during the show, and for good reason.
Shane Thompson of Action Trailers, and a member of the NATDA Dealer Advisory Council, swears by it for the perfect balance.“ The chicken is juicy while the crust stays crisp, and their hot chicken seasoning is a blend of cayenne pepper, delicious spices and sweetness. It’ s always consistent; you won’ t be disappointed!”
His go-to order: Hot Crispy Chicken sandwich with extra pickles( extra pickles is key) + baked beans for a side + Pimento Mac & Cheese. And if you’ ve got room left? Try the banana pudding.
Kyran Hollje of Load Trail, and Chair of the NATDA WITI Committee, makes it a team tradition.“ It’ s my go-to‘ Trailer Show’ tradition! On Day 1 of the show, we DoorDash Hattie B’ s for our entire team. There is truly nothing better when you’ re working hard at the booth and need that perfect midday fuel.”
Her order: The Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich( Spice Level: HOT), crinkle-cut fries, and, the most important part, a LARGE, ice-cold Coke to wash it all down.
Brittani Lewis from NXG Trailer Bodies keeps it simple.“ It is a Nashville icon and you have to visit! The atmosphere is great as well.”
Her pick: Fried chicken sandwich with fries.
Prince’ s Hot Chicken | The Hidden Gem
Not everyone is Team Hattie B’ s. Corey Langley from NATDA knows where the real chicken is hiding.
“ Hattie B’ s is good for sides, but Prince’ s has better chicken. If I’ m going to a chicken place, that’ s what I look for.”
You’ ll find Prince’ s installed above Hattie B’ s in the Assembly Food Hall just a couple of blocks away from Music City Center; and yes, literally in the same building.
Corey’ s order: Andre Chicken Sandwich( Kickin’ Ranch), usually medium or hot.
Martin’ s BBQ Joint | The Wild Card
Sometimes you want your chicken as classic BBQ, and Scott Sailer of Southland Trailers
and a member of NATDA’ s Manufacturer & Supplier Advisory Council found the spot that does both.
“ Martin’ s not only has the best fried chicken sandwich, but their BBQ and other platters are great. The vibe is sweet, and the music is on point.”
His order: Fried chicken sandwich.
