HOMEMADE CANDY APPLES
Ingredients 2 cups granulated sugar 1 / 4 cup corn syrup 3 / 4 cup water 1 / 2 teaspoon red food coloring 8 small-medium apples
You will need 1 large saucepan 1 candy thermometer 12 corn dog sticks
Directions Making Candy Apples is easy . Wash the apples and remove the stem . Insert the stick into the stem end of the apple and push it halfway through . Set aside . Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and coat with cooking spray .
In your saucepan over high heat , stir together the granulated sugar , corn syrup and water . Bring to a boil and turn down the heat to medium . Stir in the food coloring . Insert your candy thermometer and continue to boil until the mixture reaches 300F-310F degrees , about 15-20 minutes .
Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to rest for a few minutes before quickly dipping the apples in and turning them to coat evenly . Resting the mixture before coating lets the bubbles subside so you don ’ t have bubbles in your candy coating . Allow excess mixture to drip off then transfer the coated apple to the baking sheet to cool completely .
Enjoy !
