HAMMONTON — Several retirees were honored at the regular meeting of town council , held on December 20 in town hall .
The first was outgoing Councilman Joseph Giralo , who will be sworn in as Atlantic County Clerk on January 1 , 2022 .
Councilman Thomas Gribbin spoke a few words about his colleague .

Parks & Rec Commission reviews survey

HAMMONTON — The Hammonton Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly monthly meeting on December 21
in town hall . During the meeting , Recreation Leader Denise Mazzeo discussed the results of a recent survey put out by the Parks and Recreation Commission regarding the 11th Street Recreation Fields .
Mazzeo said that 54 percent of
the 425 respondents were from the 08037 ZIP code
“ We asked the question , ‘ If the
11th Street hockey facilities were to be transformed , what recreational facility would you like to see in its place ?’ People from 08037 answered ‘ skate park ’ with
53.6 percent , and 12 percent answered , ‘ keep it as a hockey rink .’ Out of the whole survey — everyone from all ZIP codes that answered — 70 percent answered ‘ skate park ;’ seven percent answered ‘ street hockey rink ,’” Mazzeo said .
Mazzeo also noted the positive responses regarding the survey ’ s final question , which asked for thoughts regarding the town ’ s parks .

HAMMONTON — Board Member Barbara Berenato from the Sending and Receiving Committee gave her committee report regarding the sending and receiving agreement with the Waterford Twp . School District during the December 9 meeting of the Hammonton Board of Education , leading to a lengthy public back and forth discussion , mainly between her and Hammonton Board of Education President Sam Mento III .
