OBITUARIES John C . Marinella “ Jack ”

John C . Marinella “ Jack ,” 90 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away Monday , December 19 , 2022 with his loving family by his side . Jack was born in Waterford , N . J . and was a 1951 graduate of Lower Camden County Regional High School , where he served as class president . He went on to graduate from Eckels School of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia , class of 1959 . He served his mortuary apprenticeship with Danks Funeral Home in Lindenwold , N . J ., under the guidance and mentorship of Tom Danks . Jack became a licensed funeral director N . J . Lic # 2515 in 1960 . After the completion of his apprenticeship , he purchased Macri Funeral Home of Hammonton , N . J . in 1962 . He later changed the name to Marinella Funeral Home , with the promise to serve Hammonton and its surrounding communities with dignity , professionalism , and respect for years to come .
In 1954 Jack entered the US Coast Guard , where he gave his service for 6 years . Jack gave selflessly to his community in many ways . He was a past member of the Waterford Volunteer Fire Co . Jack held many past president positions to include the St . Joseph Holy Name Society , St Joseph Parish Council , St . Joseph High School Booster Club , Hammonton Rescue Squad , Hammonton Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Italian Sons and Daughters of America . Jack served on the board of directors for Kessler Memorial Hospital . He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus , Pallotti Council # 3471 where he served as a 3rd Degree and also a 4th Degree Knight Council # 680 and a Faithful Navigator . Jack was also a member of the Winslow Twp . Lions Club , Hammonton American Legion Post # 186 and Hammonton Kiwanis Club . He was a faithful parishioner of St . Joseph Church , where he was a church usher and a eucharistic minister . Jack was a longtime member of the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce . In 1995 he received the Chamber of Commerce “ Nice Going Award ” for his outstanding leadership and devoted service to the community .
Jack was a dedicated Phillies fan and season ticket holder dating back to Shibe Park . Baseball was a passion to Jack , as one of the first tasks he performed when purchasing the business in 1962 was to sponsor a Little League team . The team is still active today and won this season ’ s league championship in celebration of the funeral home ’ s 60th year anniversary . He played softball for the Italian Stallions in Hammonton for many years . Jack enjoyed horses and had various sulky racing horses over the years that raced at the Atlantic City Racetrack and Freehold Racetrack .
Jack is predeceased by his parents , John A . and Jennie ( nee Chalk ) Marinella ; and his sisters , Phyllis Perrotta , Charlotte Hoke and Gerry Spinella . He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years , Sandra ( nee Iuliucci ); his daughter , Jacquelyn Kincaid and her husband Steven ; and his grandchildren , Branon J . ( Celeste ), Alexandra , and Cassie Kincaid . He is also survived by Sandra ’ s sister , Virginia Bird and her husband Hank ; and many loving nieces , nephews , cousins and friends .
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday , December 22nd , 2022 from 6 p . m . to 9 p . m . at the Marinella Funeral Home , 102 N Third St ., Hammonton , NJ 08037 . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a . m . Friday , December 23 , 2022 at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish-St . Joseph Church , 226 French St ., Hammonton , NJ 08037 . Entombment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery . Donations may be made in Jack ’ s name to a Hammonton service organization of one ’ s choice that Jack proudly supported for many years . William F . Jacobs

William F . Jacobs , 90 , of Sewell , N . J . ( formerly of Pitman , N . J .), passed peacefully at home on December 12 , 2022 .
William is survived by his devoted wife , Marguerite ( nee Salvatore ); daughters , Margaret Jacobs , Marie Nicholas ( nee Jacobs ) and her spouse Jeffrey Nicholas , Renee Post ( nee Jacobs ) and her spouse Dean Post ; four cherished grandchildren , Ethan Nicholas , Isabelle Nicholas , Owen William Post and Abigail Post . Also survived by brother , John E . Jacobs with wife Angelina of Hammonton , N . J . and many other loving relatives and friends .
Services were Tuesday , December 20 , 2022 . Friends paid respects at
Kelley Funeral Home , Pitman , N . J . from 9 a . m . to 10:45 a . m . A mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Pitman , N . J . at 11 a . m . Interment was at Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Hammonton , N . J . following mass . Reception was at Rocco ’ s Towne House , Hammonton , N . J . All were welcome . Anthony Guerere

Anthony Guerere , 85 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away Saturday December 17 , 2022 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia , Pa . He was born in Winslow , N . J . He began guitar lessons at the age of 6 and piano at 8 . In 1946 , he became a member of Hap Branders String Band and then later in 1949 he appeared on the Steel Pier on the Tony Grant show . In 1950 , he won First place among young composers in a national music competition sponsored by the American Guild . In high school , he represented Hammonton High School at Boys State , was president of the National Honor Society and Student Director of the High School Band . That year , he wrote both words and music for the class song . He served in the National Guard from 1960 – 1968 . He received his BS and MA degrees in music education from the College of N . J . and became certified as a supervisor and principal from Rowan University . He was the band director at Hammonton High School from 1959 to 1987 , and eventually became a supervisor and administrator until his retirement in 1998 . He became adjunct professor of Music at The College of New Jersey and Rowan University , where he conducted the Atlantic Brass Band . Mr . Guerere also conducted the All-South Jersey Symphonic Band as well as the All-State Brass Ensemble and received the Otto Helbig Conducting Award from the College of New Jersey . He was president of the South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors Association and the New Jersey Music Educators Association where he received the distinguished service award and honorary life membership . He received the Governor ’ s Award in the Arts for Distinguished Leadership in Music Education . In 2008 , Anthony was named Artist of the Year by the Arts and Cultural Committee of the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce , and conducted the Ocean City Pops Orchestra in a Gala concert .
Anthony is predeceased by his parents , Anthony and Minnie Guerere . He is survived by his wife , Rose Rita ( nee Errera ); Son , Anthony Guerere and his wife Marizel ; Daughters , Lynne Lucca and her husband Rusty and Joanne Pullia and her husband PJ . Loving grandfather of A . J . and Gina Guerere , Michelle McMaster ( Charlie ), Christy Lucca and Gabrielle , Danielle and Paul Pullia . He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed .
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation today , Wednesday Dec . 21 from 9 a . m . – 11:30 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish , St . Anthony of Padua Church , 285 Rt . 206 Hammonton , N . J . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a . m . Catherine G . Owsley

Catherine G . Owsley ( nee ’ Ruggeri ) departed this world on December 16th , one month short of her 80th birthday . Known as Kay , she was born in Carthage , N . Y . and raised in Hammonton , the first of five children born to Joseph and Cora Ruggeri . Kay was everyone ’ s big sister . Her brief career in education as a teacher in St . Joseph ’ s School in Hammonton , ended when she met the love of her life , Wayne Owsley . They met on a blind date . A member of the US Army temporarily stationed in New Jersey ; he was scheduled to return to his home state of Indiana when he proposed to Kay . Their “ love at first sight ” lasted more than sixty years . While in Indiana they had three children , Page Ann , Pamela Jo , and Wayne Jr . The Owsley family moved to New Jersey where Wayne ’ s talents as a mechanic were put to good use as a member of Local 825 of the Operating Engineers . Kay and Wayne settled in Vineland prior to moving to Buena Borough .
Kay was predeceased by her parents ; her sister , Wynnona Pantalone ( Lou ), brother-in-law , Ken Owsley ( Caroline ), sister-in-law , Christine Ruggeri and by her eldest child , Page Ann ( Jim ), who fought a long and extraordinarily valiant battle with breast cancer . Kay was with Page every step of the way and her daughter ’ s passing created a hole in Kay and Wayne ’ s hearts . Kay is survived by her loving husband Wayne ; her daughter , Pamela , who was always on hand to help her parents , and her son , Wayne Jr . ( April ) who came to his parents ’ aid in innumerable ways . Kay is also survived by her sister , Johanna R . Johnson ( Nelson ), and her brothers , Joseph A . Ruggeri ( Kathy ) and Timothy J . Ruggeri ( Susan ). In laws , Owen Owsley ( Helen ), Juniata Sears ( Bob ), Joan Stater ( Larry ), Joyce Sheely ( Ron ), Ruth Collins ( Glen ), Ron Owsley ( Mary ), and Pauletta Wray ( Clint ) all of Kokomo , Indiana . Kay simply adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nurtured each of them with love , patience , and discipline . Her grandchildren are Kayla Lewis ( Anthony ), Zachary Zulker , Heidi Feuchtwanger ( Steve ), Nicholas Brunozzi and Cara Owsley ( John ). Her great-grandchildren are Izabella , Bryce , Kayleigh , Grayson and Maci . She also leaves behind many nieces , nephews and friends whom she loved dearly .
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday , December 21 , 2022 from 10 a . m . to 10:45 a . m ., followed by a funeral liturgy at 11 a . m . at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish , St . Michael ’ s Church , 504 SW Boulevard , Minotola , N . J . Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery , Newfield .
