COMMISSION, from Page 1
commission chairman robert reitmeyer voted against denying it.
the motion was made by CarusoCafiso and seconded by Donio.
those who wanted the trees removed argued that they interfered
with the sight line at the intersection, but those in favor of the trees
remaining argued that the problem
with the intersection is the lack of
a four-way stop sign. the intersection currently does not meet sufficient criteria to warrant the traffic
study from the county needed in
order to install a four-way stop
sign.
according to reitmeyer, the
environmental Commission may
issue a tree removal permit
“whenever a town tree obstructs,
interferes with, or impedes vehic-
ular or pedestrian traffic, or in any
way causes any damage to a sidewalk creating an unreasonable risk
of injury or damage to persons or
property. all attempts short of a
removal shall first be employed
prior to removal of a tree.”
