HAMMONTON—At the regular monthly meeting of the Hammonton Board of Education held
December 10, the board selected
Raymond Scipione to the vacant
seat held previously by Joseph Giralo. Giralo was elected to town

Scipione appointed to school board, takes Giralo’s seat
council in November and resigned
from the school board last month.
Three local residents — Raymond Scipione, Dr. Johanna Johnson and Dr. Otto Hernandez —
were interviewed as candidates to
fill the vacant position. Each candidate was given four questions
and gave their reason on why they
should be chosen.
“I ran for the school board this
year under the fact that I would be
a non-conflicted member. I think
that is very important. It’s something I would bring to the board. I
would be able to vote on all school
board issues. I’ve been in business
for 20 years. I own a company that
is subcontracted for Lexus of Atlantic City and Mercedes of Atlantic City for the past 15 years. I
am also a territory manager for US
Foods for the last four [years]. My
responsibilities are: I run, basically,
a $7 million sales route … As a
head coach, I loved being able to
shape the future of my players and
seeing them go to college and helping them go to college. I actually
once drove three of my players to
North Carolina to visit a college
