HAMMONTON—Police are
investigating several unrelated
thefts throughout town, Hammonton Police Lt. Kevin Friel said.

• On December 5 at 12:57 p.m.,
police were called to investigate
the theft of checks stolen from a
home on the 400 block of N. Second Road, Friel said.
“We received a report of outgo-
ing mail stolen from a mailbox.
Checks were taken, altered and
cashed at the bank,” Friel said.
The complainant stated that
sometime before December 5 she
had placed the outgoing mail in
her mailbox, and in reading her
bank statements, there were
checks that were cashed that were
not in the amounts she had authorized, Friel said.
Officer Charles Sbarra III was
the investigating officer, Friel
said. Anyone with any information about the theft should contact
the Hammonton Police Department at 561-4000.

HAMMONTON—On December 8, 2016, the Hammonton Board
of Education held their regular
meeting.
The meeting began with a presentation by Ray Colavita of the
2015-2016 Audit by auditing firm

consists of three phases – financial,
client and internal control.
During the audit, there were two
findings in the food service file
which the board, as part of their
statutory responsibility, have to address and correct.

Carrelli from town

Brig. Gen. Anthony Carrelli
grew up in Hammonton with a
strong military heritage in his family. His grandfather served as an
aircraft mechanic in the Army Air
Corps during World War I and his
uncle was a B-26 pilot in the Army
Air Corps during World War II.
Carrelli followed in their aviation
footsteps and became an A-10 and
KC-135 pilot for the United States
Air Force. The Hammonton native’s illustrious military career is
filled with many accolades, assignments, awards and numerous
deployment campaigns.
