Mazzeo were instrumental in the revitalization during that time, runfolo said. the 20th anniversary of the station’s renovation and the town’s sesquicentennial celebration are coming up in 2016. the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Com- merce and MainStreet Hammonton—which was also instrumental in the 1996 revitalization of the train station—have offices in the building that occupies the train station area on the corner of egg Harbor road and Bellevue avenue. With all those facts pertaining to the historic train station and the downtown’s revitalization, there are plans to restore the building which is maintained by the local Chamber of Commerce, while the grounds are managed by the town of Hammonton. as executive director of the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce John runfolo said, it is an ongoing process but closer to being finalized. “the renovations are in the planning stages because of its historic significance. it is not an historic building, but it is has historic significance. it is difficult and we have to go through this process. i am here part-time and everyone else is a volunteer [for the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce]. We have meetings, we get things done, but you have to go through the process of getting bids. We have bids for the pav[ers] out in front [of the building]. the pav[ers] out front is actually the responsibility of town,” runfolo said. Specifically, there are bids for painting the building, which runfolo acknowledged as the most visual part of the restoration process, and they are seeking to have the encased windows and exterior of the building cleaned. the order will likely be to clean the entire building, clean the stone sidewalk, paint the building and clean the windows. “even though it is cosmetic, it is going to be the thing that says ‘Wow, what a nice job they did.’” DiMeglio Septic, Est. 1975 ~ DEP 03261 ~ Paul DiMeglio Inc. runfolo said. the local Chamber of Commerce has thousands of dollars set aside to restore the building that occupies the Historic Hammonton train Station, according to runfolo. He explained the biggest needs to improve the facility. “if you look at all of this from an expert’s point of view, they will say there is, there are things that need to be fixed. there is work that needs to be done in the basement, but it is amazingly in great shape.
