OBITUARIES Ronald Caporale
Ronald Caporale , 70 , of Mullica Township passed away at home on Tuesday , November 8 , 2022 . Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong area resident . Ron was a retired commercial landscaper . He was a Son of the American Legion Post 352 in Somers Point , a member of the American Legion Riders and Retreads of South Jersey .
He was predeceased by his father , Daniel P . Caporale and his brother , Danny Caporale . Ron is survived by his two daughters , Danielle Carter and her husband Jim of Runnemede and Courtney Caporale of Lindenwold ; his mother , Josephine Caporale ( nee Gerace ) of Mullica and his two grandsons , Travis Carter and Anthony Carter . A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday , November 14 , 2022 in St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish , Church of St . Joseph ' s 226 French St ., Hammonton . Entombment followed in Greenmount Cemetery . Memorial donations may be made to the American Legions Post 352 , 733 1st St ., Somers Point , N . J . 08244 .

Lisa Marie Myers
Lisa Marie Myers , 52 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away peacefully on Tuesday , November 8 , 2022 in Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden . Born in Vineland , Lisa was a lifelong Hammonton resident .
She was predeceased by her mother , Kathleen Clayton . Lisa is survived by her loving children , Lexia Oram and Matthew Oram ; her brother , Randall Myers and his wife Lorelie and their children , Logan Myers , Leandra Myers and Reagan Myers . She is also survived by her extended family and many friends . Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family .

HAMMONTON — Lou Gazzara grew up in Hammonton and attended St . Joseph High School . He is an “ American Idol ” Finalist , a Las Vegas Headliner and threetime Broadway World Nominee . Gazzara will be performing live with a 7-piece band at Kathedral Event Center on November 26 at 7 p . m .
The theme of the evening is “ Musical Love Affair ,” featuring songs made famous by artists like Frank Sinatra , Elvis Presley , Luciano Pavarotti , Frankie Valli , Journey and more .

According to the promotional material for the event , a portion of the proceeds from ticket and CD sales will benefit St . Joseph Academy .

Three incumbent board members appeared to be returning to the Hammonton Board of Education , with Barbara Berenato ( 2,062 total votes ), John Lyons ( 1,893 total votes ) and Linda Byrnes ( 1,777 total votes ) leading in total votes as of press time . Shawn McCloud ( 1,741 total votes ), Mary Ann Templeton ( 1,651 total votes ) and Rita Black ( 1,424 total votes ) received the remaining votes . Vote tallies are unofficial and had not been certified as of press time .
Furgione said he was looking forward to serving on council again when he was contacted by The Gazette about the election results .
“ Any time you get reelected or elected it ’ s a vote of confidence from the residents . I appreciate their confidence and I appreciate them returning me to council so I can represent them . I am working heavily on infrastructure , water and sewer projects and we are going to have several large projects coming in the next two years ,” Furgione said .
Berenato , a former Democratic Mayor of Hammonton , told The Gazette that she thanked the voters for their support .
“ I ’ d like to thank the voters of Hammonton . I have always had great respect for the hardworking people of this town . The people of Hammonton always come through for anyone who needs it . I look forward to serving them on the board . It ’ s my job to listen , agree or disagree and my values dictate that I do not think it is valuable to have an opinion and not express it . I am not intimidated by louder or more insistent voices ,” Berenato said .
Berenato outlined some of the projects she would be working with the rest of the board on during her next term .
“ We are looking forward to having a smooth transition by the addition of eight classrooms at the ECEC . We certainly have to resolve the issue of the solar usage . I can use my experience as a former community leader , a mother and a grandmother to support and unify the faculty and students for a great education in our town ,” Berenato said .
