HaMMONtON—five copper
downspouts were reported as
stolen from the Hammonton Pres-
byterian Church on Bellevue avenue, Hammonton Police Captain
Nick Salvatore said. the report of
the theft was received by the police department at 8 a.m. on November 6, he said.
Susan reisinger reported that
the spouts were found missing in
the morning, Salvatore said.
“they are valued at $300 to
$400 each, for a total of around
$2,000,” he said.
Salvatore said the decline in the
economy and rise in metal prices
has led to more thefts in recent
years.
“i remember them hitting the
cemetery for the copper, but that
was only in the last few years as
well. the rise in metal prices in
the last six years has really caused
a rise in thefts,” Salvatore said.
Class ii Officer Charles Sbarra
is investigating, Salvatore said.
