‘Teens and trucks’ makes safety around trucks, buses a priority

On the morning of October 21,
students at Hammonton High
School participated in the “Teens
and Trucks” program. The program is designed to teach young
drivers how to properly react and
control the situation when driving
close to large trucks or buses. The
event took place during Operation
Safe Driver Week, a weeklong
seminar that aims to correct dangerous driving behaviors through
enforcement campaign and educational outreach. Hammonton was
the first high school in the state to
adopt the program.

“This event is very important.
It teaches teens everything: the
“no-zone” and the blind spots and
the no texting while driving. If we
save one life today by teaching
this program, then we made a difference. We have to teach the
young kids to be careful around

places have been announced for
the November 3 general election.
Three seats on the town council
and three seats on the school
board are up for election locally,
as are seats on the county and state
level.
Polling places are open from 6
a.m. to 8 p.m.
