Louis John DeStefano Jr , 85 , of Hammonton passed away on Friday , October 14 , 2022 at home .
Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident of the Hammonton and Nesco area . Lou was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War . He was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge No . 1658 and the M . B Taylor Masonic Lodge No . 141 both in Hammonton . He coached for the Hammonton Little League and the Hammonton Hawks Football Program for many years . He enjoyed tinkering with clocks , and small engines , spending time on his property in Nesco and he was an avid hunter , fisherman , and crabber . Lou ' s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren . Before retiring he worked as a flight engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration , where he was able to travel around the world for work projects .
Lou was predeceased by his beloved wife , Judith DeStefano ; his grandchildren , Tyler and Logan . He is survived by his four children , Louis J . " Skip " DeStefano III ( Daria ), Steven B . DeStefano ( Debbie ), Laura DeStefano ( Sal Genovese ), John DeStefano ( Michele ); his seven grandchildren , Louis IV , Alexandra , Steven Jr ( Michelle ), David , Jenna , Jeffrey and Lucas ; his four great grandchildren , Steven III , Giada , Mason and Jack . He is also survived by several loving sisters , aunts , uncles , cousins and friends .
A viewing was held on Tuesday , October 18 , at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third Street in Hammonton , where funeral services took place . Burial followed at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery , 109 Route 50 South , Mays Landing , N . J . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project , P . O . Box 758516 , Topeka , KS 66675-8516 .

Anthony M . Gabris

Anthony M . Gabris , Sr ., 82 of Sweetwater , N . J . passed away peacefully Sunday October 9 , 2022 , at his home .
He was born in Philadelphia , P . A . and graduated from Bartram High School in 1957 . He went on to serve in the U . S . Coast Guard during the Vietnam War . After his discharge from the Coast Guard , he worked as an Engineer for General Electric Aerospace Division & Lockheed Martin from the Philadelphia office . He served as a Mullica Township committee person and was instrumental in the redevelopment of the Hilda S Frame Elementary School as a Mullica Township Historic Society Committee Member . He is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Jean Gabris , his wife Margaret ( nee Kilday ) and his brother Alex .
Anthony is survived by his children , Anthony M . Gabris , Jr . and his wife Peggy of Collingswood , N . J ., Christopher Gabris and his wife Barbara of Hammonton , N . J ., Michael Gabris of Sweetwater , N . J ., Michele Ryan and her husband Jay of Audubon , N . J . and Colleen Gabris of Audubon , N . J .; his sister Denise Fidura of Marlton , N . J .; He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren , Anthony M . Gabris , III , Gina , Stefanie and Sanibel Gabris and Kenneth Anderson .
Family and friends were invited to his viewing Friday October 14 , 2022 from 8:30 – 10:30 a . m . at Marinella Funeral Home 102 N . Third St . Hammonton , N . J . A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish-St . Joseph Church , Third & French St . Hammonton , N . J . 08037 . Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 248 S . First Rd . Hammonton , N . J .

Judith A . Masi

Judith A . Masi , 80 , of Hammonton passed away on Tuesday , September 6 , 2022 at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Galloway Township . Born in Roxborough , P . A . she was a lifelong resident of the Folsom and Hammonton area . She had volunteered for the Boy Scouts , and the Hammonton Little League . She enjoyed bowling , Harry Potter books & movies , baking , working in her flower garden , crocheting , knitting and watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles . She had worked in the loan department at Empire Savings & Loan in Hammonton , and as a cashier at Bally ' s Park Place in Atlantic City .
She was predeceased by her parents , Joseph F . and Dorothy Spangler Sr .; her brother , Joseph F . Spangler Jr . and his wife Carol . She is survived by her husband , Nicholas C . Masi Jr .; three sons , Nicholas A . Masi , Steven Masi ( Karen ) and James Masi ( Sharon ); two grandchildren , Danielle Nicole Masi and Destiny Rose ; brother in law , Anthony Masi ( Patricia ) and many nieces , nephews , cousins and friends . A visitation was held on Tuesday , September 13 at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third Street in Hammonton , where funeral services took place .

Chief : Police make DWI arrest on Rt . 206

HAMMONTON — Police were dispatched to the area of Route 206 and Rockwood Road at 7:49 a . m . on October 7 for a check wellbeing call in reference to a subject on foot waving down motorists stating that his parents had drugged him , Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said .
Upon arrival , Officer Daniel Norcross observed a Mitsubishi with significant rear-end damage , Friel said . The subject was identified as James Lewis , 18 , of Medford , Friel said .
Lewis made statements of operating the vehicle and showed signs of impairment , Friel said . He was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence , transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with driving while under the influence , Friel said .
“ It is also believed that Lewis had a hit-and-run in Medford prior to his arrest in Hammonton ,” Friel said .
He was released as per John ’ s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court , Friel said , adding that Norcross was the investigating and arresting officer .
In other police news , a motor vehicle stop at Second Road and 12th Street at 11:59 p . m . on October 8 resulted in a driving while under the influence arrest ( DWI ), Friel said .
Officer Travis Hoffman observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 54 failing to maintain its lane of travel , Friel said .
He conducted a motor vehicle stop near Second Road and Route 54 , Friel said . The vehicle was operated by Melissa Reese , 24 , of Mays Landing , Friel said .
“ Ms . Reese had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle ,” Friel said .
Reese was placed under arrest , transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations : driving while under the influence , careless driving , reckless driving and failing to maintain lane of travel , Friel said .
She was released as per John ’ s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court , Friel said .
Friel said Hoffman was the arresting officer .
Also , a one-car accident occurred at 11:12 a . m . on October 2 involving a 2019 black Nissan Rogue driven by Jean Joseph , 41 , of Morrisville , Pa ., Friel said .
“ He was traveling northbound on Route 206 , ran off the road to the right into a ditch and a tree ,” Friel said .
An investigation showed the driver lost control of his vehicle due to wet conditions , and there are no charges at this time , Friel said .
There were no injuries as a result of the accident , Friel said .
Friel said Officer Casey Hendrickson was the investigating officer , Friel said .

Fugitive

POLICE , from Page 1 white male with a green coat looking over their fence ,” Friel said .
Officer Matthew Heiser observed a male subject , later identified as Hugh Robinson , 68 , of Hammonton .
Robinson stated he was just admiring the house , Friel said .
An NCIC check revealed that Robinson was a fugitive from justice from the Cameron County Sheriff ’ s Office in Brownsville , Texas .
The warrant was confirmed , and Robinson was placed under arrest , transported to police headquarters for processing and was charged with being a fugitive from justice by Heiser , Friel said .
Robinson was then transported to the Atlantic County Jail , where he was lodged .
Friel said Heiser was the arresting officer .
