Hammonton Education Foundation ’ s fundraiser : ‘ Dream Night ’
DREAM , from Page 1 dren that are new to the district and may not be familiar with what the Hef is all about .
“ When we have an event , not only are we looking for revenue , but we ’ re looking to connect with those people that really don ’ t have a great idea of what we do , and that ’ s enhancing the teaching and learning process in the Hammonton Public School District … So , we ’ re really excited when teachers and administrators come up with some innovative types of ideas that can ’ t be supported by their traditional budget ,” Hef president frank rudnesky said .
One of those innovative types of ideas Hef members have collaboratively formulated is “ Dream Night ,” an upcoming buffet dinner dance that will take place at Kathedral event Center on Saturday , November 18 from 6 p . m . to 10 p . m . Dream Night will feature a silent auction comprised of prizes catered to children , such as the opportunity to be mayor for a day , be a D . a . r . e . officer for a day , have lunch with a favorite teacher and more . the $ 60 admission to Dream Night will also include dinner , a cash bar , a prize basket chance auction and live music from Hammonton-based classic rock and country cover band Gypsy train .
Hef member Lori Calderone is co-chairing the inaugural event alongside fellow Hef members Colleen Mortellite and alisha Massey and said Dream Night will offer a nice variety to the signature events the Hef hosts .
“ Some of the events that we hold are during the day like the taste of the town , and a lot of people with children — of course the kids are involved in activities and can ’ t always make them , so a lot of the parents have been asking to have an evening event ,” Calderone said .
Like any Hef event , all proceeds of Dream Night will go directly to the school district and allow the Hef to continue to receive grants that supplement the quality of education in Hammonton ’ s schools , and as an added bonus , it may help local children experience something they have always wanted to do .
“ We ’ re trying to get items together that interest kids , kids want to do … We ’ re going to try to offer things , and we call it ‘ make your kid ’ s dream come true ’ because you gave your kid the chance ,” Mortellite said .
Mortellite said the Hef is hopefully that Dream Night will catch on and become as popular as their other events and offer new ways each year to fulfill the dreams of local children .
“ Whenever you do something for the first time , you hope for the best . So , we hope it ’ s something that they realize that different ideas every year come in , we hear that a kid wants to go do this , then we can make that happen ,” Mortellite said . for more information on the Hammonton education foundation , visit www . hefonline . org . to purchase tickets to Dream Night , call Mortellite at 561-2524 , Calderone at 839-6502 or Cherie Pullia at 442-0570 .
