St . Joseph Academy has several events coming for the fall

On October 26 from 6 p . m . to 8 p . m ., Saint Joseph Academy will hold an open house for the fall , welcoming potential students .
“ That ’ s our big admissions event ,” Young explained .
The open house event will feature important information for students and parents on the school and will allow other students to mingle with one another .
Parents and students will learn about why “ SJA is committed to its mission of Faith , Family , and Future .”
For November 7 , the academy plans on holding a “ Walk with a Wildcat ” event . Young explained that for the event interested students would have the
Joseph Academy student . By holding this event , interested students can better gauge their interest in the academy , as well as live the day as a Saint Joseph Academy student .
A n o t h e r fundraiser for the fall is scheduled in November , the 2022 Eagles Ticket Raffle . The raffle was

funded by members of the Saint Joseph Academy community and features a Philadelphia Eagles ticket bundle .

The raffle costs $ 35 dollars to enter , with prize winners winning on field seating for the December 4 game against the Tennessee Titans . The bundle also features allinclusive food and beverage , along with comfortable seats with their own tablets . The raffle will take place at halftime during a Saint Joseph A c a d e m y football game on November 23 . Young also hinted at an upcoming Poinsettia Sale in December for the academy . More information will be distributed later in the fall .

Man attempts to elude police

HAMMONTON — At 2:55 a . m . on September 19 , Officer Richard Carpo was conducting stationary radar enforcement in the area of Route 206 and Chewtown Road when he observed a yellow Ford Mustang traveling southbound at approximately 110 miles an hour , Friel said . The posted speed limit for the roadway is 50 miles per hour , Friel said .
“ As the vehicle passed , he activated his red lights , with hopes that the driver would slow down and allow the officer to close the gap . As the vehicle continued to pull away , the officer deactivated his siren and noticed a large area of smoke in front of him , which appeared to have come from the driver locking up the brakes to attempt to slow the vehicle or turn the vehicle at the intersection of Route 206 and
Basin Road ,” Friel said .
Carpo again viewed the vehicle and pulled the vehicle over , Friel said . The driver was identified as Mitchell Vitali , 24 , of Hammonton , Friel said .
The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody without incident , Friel said .
“ While being detained , he indicated he knew he was running from police ,” Friel said .
Vitali was transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with eluding police and the following motor vehicle violations : speeding , reckless driving and failure to stop and yield to an emergency vehicle , Friel said .
Friel said Carpo was the investigating and arresting officer .

DWI arrests made

HAMMONTON — Police made a number of driving while under the influence ( DWI ) arrests earlier this month , including the following , Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said .
• On September 12 at 10:59 p . m ., Officer Travis Hoffman was dispatched to the intersection of S . Second Street and Peach Street as a result of a report of loud music coming from a vehicle , Friel said .
Upon checking the area , he observed the vehicle , identified as a Ford Mustang with New Jersey registration and came in contact with the owner , Jorge Lopez-Ramirez , 30 , of Hammonton , Friel said .
He was observed to be drinking an open alcoholic beverage , a Blue Moon beer , Friel said .
While speaking with Lopez-Ramirez , a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was emanating from the vehicle , Friel said .
Lopez-Ramirez was placed under arrest , transported to police headquarters for processing after being charged with the following motor vehicle violations : DWI , careless driving , reckless driving , unregistered vehicle , open container of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle and driving while suspended , Friel said .
Friel said Hoffman was the arresting and charging officer , and he was released as per John ’ s Law pending a court date in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court .
• On September 17 at 2:47 a . m . during a motor vehicle stop at S . Egg Harbor Road and Grape Street Officer Kyle Ambrozaitis observed a vehicle heading westbound on S . Egg Harbor Road failing to maintain its lane of travel , Friel said .
As the accused vehicle reached the corner of S . Egg Harbor Road and Grape Street , the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and the accused vehicle struck the curb and came to a stop , Friel said .
The driver , Roselin Peraida- Guitierrez , 26 , of Hammonton appeared to be dazed and confused , Friel said . There was a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person , according to Friel .
He was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence , transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the following motor vehicle violations : driving while under the influence , unlicensed driver , careless driving , reckless driving , failing to maintain lane of travel and failing to produce a driver ’ s license , Friel said .
He was released as per John ’ s Law pending a court date in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court , Friel said .
Friel said Ambrozaitis was the arresting and charging officer .
