In other news, crews for 2017 road program contractor A E Stone has moved equipment on to Lakeshore Drive on September 20 and September 21 for the 2017 road improvement program, ac- cording to Barberio. Two rollers, two millers and a paver will perform the road resur- facing, according to Public Works department head Scott Rivera. In other news related to the road program, Barberio said 10 trees will require metal plate tree shields to protect them during roadwork. A change order of $7,750 per tree ($77,500) will be submitted for the tree guards, Barberio said. Barberio said another change order of $525,000 has been submit- ted for 10 handicap ramps that need to be replaced ($52,500 per ramp). Mayor Stephen DiDonato stressed the significance of replac- ing the ramps during roadway im- provement. “The handicap ramps are very critical in the downtown area be- cause when you improve a road, you have to keep everything to code,” DiDonato said. In other business, Barberio re- ported that on October 15, the town will spend $142,000 to clear trees that are creating an obstruction at the Hammonton Municipal Air- port. Due to restrictions from the Pinelands Commission, the town will not be permitted to remove the stumps of the trees and will instead cut them so they are flush with the ground. In other news, municipal utilities superintendent Anthony DeCicco reported that the owner of a prop- erty located at 474 Chew Rd. is seeking to find out who is respon- sible for half of the property being tied to the town’s sewer connection and half using a septic system in the backyard. The property was tied to the sewer connection in 1998, but only half of it was tied, according to De- Cicco. The original owner has since sold the home.
