I could not find that group. I reached out to the Hammonton Canoe Club members and they expressed that it was too laborious a task to have to weed and take care of some- thing like that. As it stands right now that’s not a project we’re going to move forward with,” Mazzeo said. Mazzeo then asked the group to approve two uses of facilities. The first being a birthday party at the Kiwanis pavilion and second, an independent filmmaker looking to shoot a film at the Lake Park on the 30th of October. Commission member Sam Rodio Jr. made a motion to approve both, seconded by Iacovelli and approved unani- mously. The next topic of discussion was the annual Green Day Festival at Hammonton Lake Park which was held on September 21. “The Hammonton Arts Center is holding their Plein-Aire Art Con- test down at the Canoe Club. Along with that there will be ven- dors, foods and crafts, as well as free canoe and kayak rides on the lake. It’s going to be a fun day,” Mazzeo said. Member James Borda addressed the commission about some issues that came up at a recent Hammon- ton Little League meeting. “The league will be spending some money on fencing around the senior field. The funds will be coming out of the Little League budget I believe. The other thing that came up that I think is very important are the lights at that Seminar on real estate held Sept. 17 by Joseph F. Berenato G AZETTE S TAFF W RITER HAMMONTON—On September 17 at Stockton University’s Kramer Hall on Front Street hosted “Adulting 101: Real Estate Essentials,” a panel dis- cussion about buying, selling and renting real estate in today’s market. The Gazette’s Editor-in-Chief Gina Rullo was the event moderator. Via a question-and-answer session with attendees, the panelists offered advice on a range of topics, in- cluding the kind of agent to get for transactions. “When you’re selling your house, you would like Now carrying Blush by Hayley Paige and Maggie Sottero We carry gorgeous dresses by: One Sindoni Lane, Suite C, Hammonton (609) 270-7886 • www.meadowsbridalshop.com same field. The commission discussed some options of improving the outdated lights at that field with the cost being a major concern at this point. But when you’re buying a house, you would like to talk to not the agent who’s selling it, necessarily. You’d like to have a broker or an agent who is repre- senting you,” D’Agostino said. When a potential buyer or seller then sits down with the agent, they can be shown a consumer’s dis- closure to learn the exact role the agent is playing, which should be explained up front. “The reason that matters is that, if I am selling a house for a friend, and you come to the door, I owe you fair dealings, but I have a fiduciary relationship with him,” D’Agostino said. He went on to state that potential buyers would then want their own agent to represent them as a buyer, so that the agent in question then has a fiduci- ary relationship with the buyer. The goal is to make sure that the buyer has someone who will work for them, and not for the seller. The panel also discussed the pros and cons of own- ing rental units, advising potential buyers to make sure there is enough of a financial reserve to cover See ADULTiNG, Page 9 DiMeglio Septic , Est. 1975 ~ DEP 03261 ~ Paul DiMeglio Inc. 1 (800) 427-4617 ~ 561-1007 ~ 561-3597 491 White Horse Pike • Ancora, NJ • Grease Trap Cleaning • Portable Toilets • Septic Certifications • Jetting Service
