for special grant programs and initiatives that aren ’ t funded by the normal taxes that the school gets ,” Hammonton Police Chief and event Co-Chair Kevin Friel said . “ It ’ s not out of their operating costs and it helps to enhance our educational system . We have teachers that apply with their grant-approved proposals each year for different projects that they feel would enhance the educational process . We review those grants and we award teachers funding to be able to provide those educational programs in their classrooms .”
The event ’ s two major sponsors are Fulton Bank and Jersey Shore Credit Union .
The Recycling Central will offer secure paper shredding for residents and businesses . The shredding will be done with DocuVault Mobile Paper shredding units . Paper , newspapers and magazines are acceptable to be shredded . Paper clips and staples do not have to be removed . No plastic or metal such as three-ring

binders are accepted . To have up to three 33-gallon bags of paper shredded the Hammonton Education Foundation is asking for a $ 20 donation .
For businesses , the prices for shredding are on a price scale . It will cost :
• $ 50 for up to 150 pounds
• $ 75 for up to 250 pounds
• $ 150 for up to 500 pounds
• $ 200 for up to 750 pounds
• $ 250 for up to 1,000 pounds . Hard drives can also be disposed of at this event . Hard drives must be removed from computers before they can be destroyed . The cost for each hard drive disposal is $ 10 .
“ Helping our community live green while supporting our schools is a win-win for everyone ,” event Co-Chair Michele Hetzel said .
The event will host more than just shredding and hard drive disposal . The Hammonton Police Department will have a section where citizens can bring their unused medicine and safely dispose of it . Accepted medication includes pills , capsules , patches and medication for pets . Medications that will not be accepted are syringes , liquids and powders .
The Lions Club will have a table where they will collect used prescription glasses and hearing aids for the Lions recycling projects . The Woman ’ s Civic Club will also have a station where they will be collecting gently used shoes , sneakers and boots for men , women and children .
The Hammonton Presbyterian Church will have a station where people can donate canned goods , hygiene items for both children and adults ; household items including glassware , dishes and utensils . They will also be collecting small appliances and toys . These items will be distributed to needy families by the Church ’ s “ Goods For Our Neighborhood ” program .
“ All of this kind of helps the community to be able to properly dispose of sensitive documents in a safe way , and at the same time helps to raise money for the programs that we fund through the Hammonton Education Foundation ,” Friel said .
All of the proceeds from the shredding will go to the Hammonton Education Foundation .
