Gladys Tomasella , 95 , of Hammonton , N . J ., passed away Monday , August 28 , 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side . Gladys was born and raised in Hammonton where she attended Hammonton schools . She worked on the DeMarco family farm and as a seamstress . She was devoted to her family and especially loved the Phillies and Eagles .
She is predeceased by her parents , Phillip and Mamie DeMarco ; her husband , Mitchell Tomasella Sr ; her son , Mitchell Tomasella Jr ; her brothers , Rocco , Carmen , Anthony , Phillip , and John DeMarco ; and her sisters , Carmella Merlino , Rose Merlino , and Rita Amedio . Gladys is survived by her children , Gail Horn ( Gus ) and Gary Tomasella ( Terri ); daughter in law , Mary Tomasella ; grandchildren , Stephanie Redfield ( Andrew ), and Matthew Horn ; and her sister , Stella Daniello ; along with many nieces and nephews .
Relatives and friends were invited to attend her visitation Saturday September 2 , 2023 from 9 a . m . -11 a . m . with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish St . Anthony of Padua Church 285 Rt . 206 Hammonton , N . J . Burial will be held privately . Philadelphia man arrested for DUI

The Hammonton Police Department made an arrest over the weekend , according to Police Chief Kevin Friel .
Police received a call of an erratic driver . The caller advised that the accused vehicle pulled into a parking lot in the area of Tilton Street and Bellevue Avenue on Sept . 3 at 9:04 p . m .
The caller stated that the vehicle , a green Volkswagen with a Pennsylvania registration , nearly struck three vehicles while parking , according to
Friel .
Officer Travis Hoffman observed Christerfer Smith , 48 , of Philadelphia , showing signs of impairment . Smith stated that he smoked cannabis earlier and was checked if he was under the influence .
Multiple plastic bags believed to be containing methamphetamines , cocaine , a nasal spray bottle believed to be containing ketamine and capsules and tablets suspected to be ecstasy were all located inside the vehicle , according to Friel .
Smith was placed under arrest and was charged with the following violations : DUI , four counts for possession of controlled dangerous substance ( CDS ), two counts of CDS-pills , careless and reckless driving and open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle , according to Friel .
Smith was released , pending court appearance at Atlantic County Superior Court .
This report is comprised of arrests and investigations made by the men and women of local enforcement . All suspects and arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law .
