Hammonton Dog Park Volunteers, consisting of approximately
30 members at the present time,
according to organizers, feel this
park will be a great addition to the
community, and new volunteers,
along with their suggestions, ideas
and comments are welcome.
Group spokesperson Shelley
Weckerly led the discussion,
which lasted around a half hour.
The volunteers plan to meet the
Thursday before the Hammonton
Parks and recreation Commission, which meets the third Tuesday of each month.

During the august 14 dog park
meeting, a group of about six people discussed developing an official logo and working on the
application process of becoming a
non-profit organization.
“any little bit helps from the
volunteers we get. We need to
apply for non profit status so we
can be our own entity so that we
are separate from the town. We
would be basically adopting the
dog park,” Weckerly said.
Getting the town to build a
website for dog registration purposes was another item Weckerly
and her fellow volunteers discussed. it was about finding a
way to make the process easier
for residents with dogs.
“This is so you can go on, fill
out your application, PDf your
dog’s certificate of rabies and basically you can send your money
in and they’ll mail you your tags,”
Weckerly said.
The Hammonton Dog Park
Volunteers’ mission is to have the
dog park accessible for residents
by the fall. Current plans are focusing on building awareness for
the effort. The volunteers who attend the meeting stated the park
won’t be a disturbance to any
neighbors.
“it is also about getting people
registered, so when it does come,
all of a sudden everybody doesn’t
