Maps of the town
The Hammonton Gazette is published Wednesdays, by The Hammonton Gazette, Inc. Copyright © 2015. All
rights reserved. ISSN 1093-6181
This week, The Gazette is proud to unveil the
newest — and one of the best — features in the
18-year history of the newspaper: Illustrated
maps of the landmarks of the town’s four commercial districts.
The commercial districts are known as downtown, uptown, Little Italy and the business park.
The first map, of the downtown area, is on the
front page of the Our Town section on page 21.
During these four weeks, readers will see the
landmarks of the four commercial districts in
an entirely new way.
These maps have their own signature style,
full-color versions of which will be available
for purchase. To purchase your color map of
each business district after each one appears
in the newspaper, contact The Gazette at
either 704-1940 or at [email protected].
Full-color images of the maps will also be
available online at www.hammontongazette.com under the button “Maps of Hammonton Landmarks.”
The details of each of the illustrations of local landmarks, coupled with local streets and backgrounds, make these maps an
instant collector’s
item. Landmarks
were selected that
are closely associated
with
each commercial district.
Four special
essays on each of the commercial districts will
be presented with each of the maps.
Hammonton has seen the revitalization of the downtown, a
positive effort that has spread to the uptown section (Route 30
and Route 206), Little Italy (bordered by Third Street, French
Street, Pratt Street, Tilton Street (Mt. Carmel Lane), Egg Harbor
Road and Orchard Street) and the business park.
Pride has grown throughout the town, and now, for the first
time, there will be maps that show the landmarks in each of the
commercial areas. Hammontonians have a right to be proud of
their community, and we look forward to seeing these great maps
on the walls of businesses and homes throughout the town.
Beginning this week with the downtown area, Hammontonians
will see their town in an entirely new way. Landmarks of downtown, uptown, Little Italy and the business park will be presented to the community on the front page of the Our Town section
each week, beginning this week.
The Gazette is proud to present these maps. They are 21st
Century views of a town that is on the rise after nearly 150 years.
