as well.
The Hammonton Arts Center
(HAC), located next to Marcello’s
Restaurant in downtown Hammonton, functions to support and promote the arts in a variety of ways,
according to HAC President
Joseph Bruno.
“It is strictly a volunteer organi-
zation, so it makes it sometimes
difficult to keep regular hours. We
support and promote the arts by offering art classes. We have had
classes going on all summer for the
younger children with art camps.
On the fourth Thursday of the
month, we do a photography program for high school students to
freshmen in college. We rent studio
space and we are an outlet for
artists to sell their works. We have
the gift shop and we have the
shows once a month. We try to participate in as many of the town
events as we can,” Bruno said.
Focal Point, the photography
group at the Hammonton Arts Center, is assigned to take pictures at
town-organized events to maintain
a record of the occasions for MainStreet Hammonton, according to
Bruno. It allows MainStreet to
show the state what is going on in
the town, and to obtain grant
money. It continues to be a way to
revitalize the town, he said.
