PEACH , from Page 1 cheesecakes , lemonade , cannoli and many more . this year ’ s Peach Party — which Cashan said has doubled in size since last year ’ s event — also featured several peach-inspired activities , including a “ Perfect Peach Pie ” contest , live cooking demonstrations for various peach recipes , multiple peachrelated arts and crafts stations and even a Peach Court children ’ s pageant that named winners of the “ Lil ’ Mister Jersey Peach ,” “ Lil ’ Miss Peach Blossom ,” “ Junior Peach Princess / Prince ,” “ Peach Princess / Prince Supreme ” and “ Best Peach fuzz Baby ” contests .
Cashan said the Peach Party has quickly become a popular downtown event because its reminiscent of the days when peach groves were prevalent throughout Hammonton — and their harvests were celebrated accordingly .
“ it ’ s an old-fashioned event for families where we stay true to the peach . So , nobody ’ s here without a peach tie-in … and i think that makes it special ,” Cashan said .
No Peach Party would be complete without bushels of fresh peaches readily available to take home . fortunately , local farm and roadside farmers market , Pastore Orchards , has been participating in the Peach Party since its inception and has sold its entire peach stock each year .
Pastore also provided partygoers with an information sheet that chronicled the 100-plus-year history of the fourth-generation family-owned-and-operated farm , which grew 300 acres of peaches during the late 1970s and early ‘ 80s .
Due to a subsequent decline in the local peach industry caused by poor weather and increased production in other states , Pastore Orchards downsized its peach crop in favor of a more diverse range of produce during the late 1980s . However , the White Horse Pike market is still a local destination for fresh New Jersey peaches , and the Peach Party allows Pastore Orchards to showcase its crop to a clientele that is more local than usual .

more people that wouldn ’ t come out to the stand . it ’ s on the Pike , so we get a lot of shore traffic , but i think people that come out here are more Hammontonians ,” Pastore Orchards employee Shawn DiBona said . the majority of the Peach Party festivities were confined to the parking on the corner of South Second and Vine Streets , but many retailers and eateries on Bellevue avenue also joined the party by offering customers various peachthemed special promotions and menu items .
Gabriella Mannino-tomasello , owner of Mannino ’ s Cannoli express , hosted a Peach festival at her business ’ storefront location during the Peach Party , which featured cannoli shells freshlyfilled with peach cannoli cream and refreshing peach drinks like peach iced tea and peach cold brew coffee .
Mannino-tomasello said she enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate Hammonton ’ s peach industry during the Peach Party and also showcase some products that incorporate the produce of local markets like Pastore Orchards .
“ Pastore Orchards — they ’ re so awesome ; their crop is amazing . We all work together , which is great because we go there and support them , and they come here and support our version of their product ,” Mannino-tomasello said .
Hammonton resident Megan Goblirsch has attended the Peach Party since it began in 2013 , and said it has already become a highlight among the list of annual events that she frequents each year with her family due to the party ’ s consistent improvement and gradual growth .
“ it ’ s definitely the biggest , so i feel like it ’ s the best ... We just try to come to as much as we can , so this is just one more stop in the year of events that we hit ,” Goblirsch said .
Cashan said she was very satisfied to see the marked success of this year ’ s Peach Party , which was made possible by her fellow event coordinators , alex Guillot and Olivia Bellano , as well as the many volunteers and business owners that took time out of their Saturday mornings to help facilitate the burgeoning community event .
“ We get it all together because of the volunteers that we have at our booths and our fantastic vendors … We ’ re happy that we ’ ve expanded it to this size this year because we knew we were going to be busy and we knew that we had to get more food and more activities for people to enjoy when they were here ,” Cashan said .
