National Night Out coming on Friday , Aug . 5

HAMMONTON — On August 5 , National Night Out will be taking
p . m . to 9 p . m ., and will be held in support of local police departments across the nation . Fireworks will end the event . The Gazette had the opportunity to talk with Mary Young , Tricia

Sidewalks to schools project discussed

HAMMONTON — Public Works Manager Robert Vettese and representatives from Greenman-Pedersen , Inc . ( GPI ) held a public information center on July 21 at 6 p . m . at town hall regarding the proposed Safe Routes to Schools project .
GPI Project Manager Dale Foster said that Safe Routes to Schools is a federal program designed to “ get kids out walking .”
“ We ’ re too much behind our phones and on video games and stuff like that , so part of the Safe Routes to Schools is to get kids active . It ’ s also to get adults active , and it ’ s to increase awareness for drivers about pedestrians ,” Foster said . Vettese explained further . “ The purpose of the program is
to make it safer for kids . When I used to go to school , I either took my bike or walked , and it ’ s good for you . It ’ s healthy for you . I was
