Board OKs in-house posting for assistant advisor for ECEC yoga club

HaMMONtON — at the July 12 Hammonton Board of education Meeting , the board authorized an in-house posting for an assistant advisor for the early childhood education yoga club for the 2018- 2018 school year with Lyons voting no on the measure as well as a posting for an additional hall monitor at the high school for the 2018-2019 school year . the board awarded contracts to a Xerox for the lease purchase of Xerox copier at a cost of $ 84.96 per month for a lease term of 60 months as well as for laser printer service , supplies and parts at a cost of $ 2,635.40 per month both based on state contract pricing . rullo & Juillet associates , inc was approved as the right to Know and PeOSH Hazard Communications Standard consultant for the 2017-2018 school year at a cost of $ 4,365 . an account services agreement was approved with eB employee Solutions , LLC in the amount of $ 9,692.40 for the termination of services and amendment of certain

BUSINESS , from Page 1 City of Detroit , The Gazette interviewed Detroit-based architect Dan Pitera , son of the late Grayce and Dan Pitera . Dan Pitera ’ s father was a wellknown local dentist . His mother was the owner of the store the Cornucopian for decades in Hammonton . Her shops operated out of revitalized buildings long before much of the downtown ’ s renaissance occurred . Grayce Pitera was also a Gazette columnist for more than a decade , beginning in 1997 , when the paper began .
Pitera , an architect and professor who is the executive Director of the Detroit Collaborative Design Center ( DCDC ) at the University of Detroit Mercy , was last written about in the Gazette in 2004 , when he received a prestigious Loeb fellowship from Harvard University . His career in Detroit has focused significantly on renewing Detroit ’ s various neighborhoods and creating what he refers to as a “ mosaic ” that unites the separate parts of the city into a cohesive whole .
He has been described as “ a political and social activist masquerading as an architect .” according to his biography , he views the design profession as an essential force in establishing human relationships and engagement .
“ DCDC is dedicated to fostering university and community partnerships that create inspired and sustainable neighborhoods and spaces for all people . We truly believe that the sustainability and regeneration of any neighborhood lies in the hands of its residents ,” Pitera said .
Pitera co-led the Civic engagement process for the Detroit Works Long term Planning initiated by Mayor David Bing in 2010 , which concluded in 2014 .
Pitera was a 2004-2005 Loeb fellow at Harvard University . He was a finalist for both the 2008- 2009 rafael Vinoly architects Grants in architecture , and the 2006-2007 James Stirling Memorial Lectures on the City . Under his direction since 2000 , the DCDC won the 2011 and 2002 Dedalo Minosse international Prize and was included in the US Pavilion of the 2008 and 2012 Venice Biennale in architecture .

provisions with the Difference Card . the board also approved a contract in the amount of $ 500 for the 2018-2019 school year with Business & Communications Strategies , LLC for ongoing policy management services of the Board ’ s policy manual . the board approved agreements for the 2018-2019 school year with the arc of New Jersey as a service provider for an adult Life program in the Hammonton High School and with Gloucester County Special Services School District for various services necessary for students receiving special education services . atlantic County Special Services was approved for itinerant services for the 2018-2019 school year . a contract for student accident insurance was awarded to Bob Mc- Closkey insurance through Berkley Life & Health insurance Company in the amount of $ 42,620.00 . the board accepted grants from the Hammonton education foundation as awarded in the amount of $ 21,846 . 61 .
During her committee report , board member Barbara Berenato thanked the foundation for the donations .
“ i would like to give a thank you , a heartfelt thank you to the Hef for their very generous grants to several of the classrooms in the high school and the WeS building , kindergarten , the eCeC . a total of over $ 21,000 was generously donated by them for projects in those particular schools ,” Berenato said . the board approved the disposal of obsolete library books at the middle school as well as various musical equipment with antiquated or unavailable parts from the high school band room . a contract for a paging / sound system upgrade was awarded to StarLite at a cost of $ 7,559.10 based on the lowest quote . the board ratified the May and June 2018 Latchkey program bank reconciliation and approved onehour mandatory training for the 2018-2019 school year for elementary school part-time cafeteria / playground aides . the board also approved extracurricular stipends for the 2018- 2019 school year for early childhood education personnel as follows :

Paul enuco : $ 2,500 ( special areas ) the board approved an additional stipend of $ 975 for teah Santora for the Perkins “ forGirlsOnly ” SteaM club which was required to receive the Perkins grant approval for the 2017-2018 School year .
Board member raymond Scipione reported that Hammonton students ranked second in Sat scores in atlantic County .
“ as we just found out our students finished number two in the county in Sat scores spending $ 6,000 less in per-student spending ,” Scipione said . the board withdrew an item regarding a contract for groceries / provisions / delivered processed commodities for further review due to concerns regarding bid pricing .
“ after the business administrator reviewed the Garden State Co-op bids for the groceries / provisions / deliveries processed commodities for the 2018 – 19 school year with the committee and then the whole board , questions arose as to the lowest responsible bidder prices compared to the other bidders ,” board solicitor amy elco of Cooper Levenson said . elco recommend that rather than continue with the contract , the board should allow Board Secretary / Business administrator Barbara Prettyman to further research the bid options .
“ the board , rather than entering into a contract that might bind the board into a higher dollar amount and a contract it ’ s my recommendation that the matter be pulled based upon the concerns raised and provide the business administrator the opportunity to research the Garden State Co-op bids and other options and report back to the board ,” elco said . the board approved the 2018- 2019 school year lunch prices as follows :
• Hammonton High School : $ 3.25
• Hammonton Middle School : $ 3
• Warren e . Sooy elementary School : $ 2.75
• Hammonton early Childhood education Center : $ 2.75 the next meeting of the Hammonton Board of education will be on august 9 .
