Park. She reported on the status of
the bathroom project.
“The plumbing work was all
completed and the work on the
locks to repair and reinforce the
locks, that was all done last week.
Now we just have to paint, clean
and get them all spruced up that
way,” Newton said.
in an update on the dog park,
Councilman Dan Bachalis reported
that if done in its original location,
the dog park will be completed
after the drip irrigation. He also reported that adams, rehmann and
Heggan (arH) will be submitting
an application for Green acres
funding, which if received would
place the dog park in a slightly different and larger location than originally planned.

“The dog park, in its original location if we still do that, that’ll be
done after the drip irrigation is
done. But, i had a meeting with
arH, they’re submitting an application for Green acres funding to
do some additional improvements
over on the Boyer fields kind of towards the Seventh Street side and
if it gets approved … if we get the
funding from the state we’ll have a
slightly different location for the
dog park, slightly larger location,”
Bachalis said.
according to Bachalis the town
should know by September if they
have received the funding.
“and we should know by September-ish,” Bachalis said.
The adopt-a-park program will
be on the July town council
agenda for approval according to
Bachalis.
Bachalis also reported that the
Hammonton Lake Water Quality
intern started last week.
“The Lake Water intern started
yesterday … he’s going to be
working five hours a day, two days
a week. He’s going to be doing
testing, probably helping out at the
water treatment plant,” Bachalis
said.
The Commission recognized
Hammonton High School student
DiMeglio Septic,
Est. 1975 ~ DEP 03261 ~ Paul DiMeglio
Charmaine Chew for her efforts to
revitalize Key Club Park.
“Charmaine Chew, a student at
Hammonton High School did a big
project over here at Key Club Park
… it looks really nice,” Bachalis
said.
“They did a heck of a job over
there, they did an outstanding job,”
Councilman Sam rodio said.
Bachalis also reported on the
bike path extension project that the
town received state funding to
complete.
“We got $230,000 from the state
to do a bike path extension. it’s
going to be extending from the
train station around to lake park,”
Bachalis said.
Commission chair Lou Cappuccio reported that he was invited to
speak at the Kiwanis Club meeting
and shared the club’s plan to revitalize the Kiwanis pavilion at the
Hammonton Lake Park.
“We’re really happy that they’re
actually going to step up to the
plate and they are going to do the
pavilion restoration project … they
have a wish list of things that they
would like to do out there and they
want to do some electrical renovations, they want to do some plumbing, … some tree trimming,
additional power work on the
pavilion … there’s really a lot of
good things here,” Cappuccio said.
Cappuccio also noted that surveillance was a big priority for the
club.
“Surveillance is one of their
main things and i told them we
were looking into that and all of
their eyes opened because they
know that this is something they’re
going to spend money on and they
want it protected also,” Cappuccio
said.
in new business, Cappuccio
brought up the idea of the town
purchasing St. Martin’s in the future to ensure it is not bought by a
larger investor.
“There’s a valuable piece of
property in Hammonton. everybody knows where it is, St. Martin’s, and if there’s any way that the
town for any reason, somehow it
does tie into our park, it does tie
into our library, if somebody else
gets that and it becomes condominiums … even if this is something we could grab with a
