Carmen Perrotta Carmen Perrotta, age 83, of Hammonton died thursday, July 12, 2018 at thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. in 1934, Carmen was born to Vincenzo and Giuseppa (Galofaro) Perrotta and was one of n ine children. in 1943, during WWii his parents fled Beng- hazi back to their home in acate, Sicily where Carmen learned his trade as a tailor and shoemaker. Carmen immigrated to america in 1957 on a work permit where he worked as a tailor at WB Kessler Clothing Co. after earning his citizenship, he started Perrotta Molded & Orthopedic Shoes in Hammon- ton. He was the owner and operator for more than 30 years until his retire- ment in 2009. He is predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (nee Marinella). He is survived by his five children, Vincent (Donna), John (rosa), Carmen, Michelle and Michael Perrotta; his loving grandson, John Perrotta Jr. and his sister, emanuela Perrotta-LaLisa and many nieces and nephews. family and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on tuesday July 17, 2018 at St. Mary of Mt. Gazzara, (nee Cella), 71, of Hammonton died on tuesday, July 10, 2018 after a fierce yet graceful battle. She was an inspiration in everything she did especially as she fought pan- creatic cancer with bravery and humor. the heart of our family and loved by everyone who knew her, Carolyn died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Carolyn’s greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren. She loved gatherings and parties with family and friends. and everyone she met she considered a friend. She was an active volunteer in her church and developed many close friendships there as well. Carolyn enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards and games, holidays, cooking, baking and spending time at the ocean. She participated in several research studies at the University of Pennsylvania to helped advance treatment and find a cure for pancreatic cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, edward J. and rita M. Cella; her daughter, Lisa Gaz- zara; brothers, Gerald V., John J. and Lawrence D. Cella. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Louis Gazzara; daughter, tracy Siligato (John); her son, Brian Gazzara (Krissy); her grandchildren, Jason, John, Brianna, Madison, aiden and Louis; her brothers, edward f. Cella and James P. Cella (robert); her sisters, Susan C. John J. Valente Jr. John J. Valente Jr., 70, of Venice, fla., died peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his residence. John fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and lived far longer than expected to the amazement of his doctors. Born in Newark, N.J. he was raised in Harrison, N.J. and has lived in Venice, florida for 12 years. He served in the army during the Vietnam War. John received an army Com- mendation Medal for Heroism when he distinguished himself by exception- ally valorous actions while serving as a member of the point element in an aero-rifle platoon. He was the third baseman for the 1999 Senior Softball World Champion team, 50 aaa Division. John worked as a Hudson County Homicide investigator, then as a Criminal investigator with the State of N.J. Public De- fender’s Office. He was predeceased by his parents, John J. Valente Sr. and Sophie (Gonsowski) Valente. John is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Valente (nee Bruno) of Venice, fla.; his sister, Judith Deak and her husband, James of Lanoka Harbor, N.J.; his children, John J. Monday, July 16, 8:27 p.m. by Gabe Donio G azette S taff W riter HaMMONtON—Police are again asking people to lock vehi- cles, sheds and garages because of a series of 10 to 15 robberies in various areas of town, Hammon- ton Police Chief robert Jones said. “they are not breaking into ve- hicles and sheds. they are target- ing unlocked vehicles and sheds,” Jones said. Jones cautioned residents to be aware of the thefts and asked for any eyewitness accounts or sur- veillance video. “Please be alert. if you see something that appears unusual or have video surveillance of inci- dents, please contact the Ham- monton Police Department at (609) 561-4000. in the meantime, please lock your vehicles and sheds,” Jones said. in other news, police made a number of arrests last week, in- cluding the following, Jones said. • On July 12 at 2:17 a.m., Daniel J. Vitalo Daniel J. Vitalo, 90, of folsom died tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence. Born in rosedale, Mr. Vitalo was a longtime resident of folsom. He worked as a clothing cutter for many factories but many at Kessler Clothing Co. in Hammonton and was also a past governor and member in Moose international. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy (nee Cianfaro); five children—sons, Daniel J. Donald Bedell Baker Sr. Donald Bedell Baker Sr., age 88, of Winslow twp. died peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., after graduating from high school he served in the U.S. army during the Korean War. Donald went on to have a wonderful career as a salesman for Keystone Portland Cement Co. first working in Connecticut where he lived in New Milford, and later being trans- ferred to New Jersey. He lived in Laurel Springs and Sicklerville before mov- ing to live with his daughter Donna Kramer. He coached his sons in baseball and was an active member of St. John’s Church and the elks Lodge. His true love was playing golf at Little Mill Country Club where he was a mem- ber for many years. He had a love for dogs and enjoyed spoiling them with snacks each day. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Jeanette (nee Beolchi ). Surviving are his children, Donald B. Baker Jr. ( Linda ) of Bethel, Conn., richard Baker ( Janice ) of farmington, Conn., Douglas Baker of Winslow twp., Jeanette Baker ( Stephanie ) of Berlin and Donna Kramer (fran) of Winslow twp.; his sister-in-law, Donna richards (Lew) of Oxford, Md. and cousin Paulette tighe of Cape May. Orchard Street was arrested on an active warrant from franklinville for $1,000, Jones said. He was unable to post bail and was transported to the atlantic County Jail, Jones said. Officer John amendolia was the arresting officer, Jones said. • On July 13 at 10:26 p.m., Dar- ius algea-rodriguez, 20, of Mul- lica twp. was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, resisting arrest and posses- sion with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, Jones said. He was released on his own re- cognizance, Jones said. Officer Jason rigby was the ar- resting officer, Jones said. • On July 13 at 11:13 p.m., richard Menge, 20, of Port re- public was arrested on tilton Street on a warrant in the amount of $500 from Galloway twp. Menge was released pending a court date. Officer Kenneth O’Neill was the arresting officer, Jones said. • On July 15 at 1:27 a.m., David Linder, 27, of egg Harbor City was arrested at the corner of third Street and Bellevue avenue for public intoxication, Jones said.
