SWIM , from Page 1 time , are also members of the Hammonton Stingrays .
“ Around half of the swim club is actually the swim team ,” Penza said .
The Stingrays are a summer swim-based team , that use the Hammonton Swim Club ’ s pool to practice . The 25-meter pool is perfect for competitive swimmers of all ages , and features five lanes . The members of the Stingrays are mostly swim club members , however a child being associated with the Youth Sports Membership program would only have to pay a fixed fee of $ 300 to join . The swim season for the Stingrays start after Memorial Day , and runs through the end of July . During this time , practices are held at the swim club , as well as the home meets for the team .
Penza also spoke on the ability to possibly create an expansion for the swim club , by offering other activities other than just the pool . While the club just recently added a new playground that Penza put together , he explained to The Gazette his vision .
Penza said he looks forward to the opportunity of possibly adding a pickleball court to the swim club , right behind the volleyball court . He said that pickleball is picking up in the town , and he wants to do everything he can to make the swim club as great as it can be .
“ We want to make everything better ,” Penza said .
He went into further detail , talking about how this year the swim club has added new lounge chairs , as well as lifeguard stands and
more . Being a non-profit organization , Penza explained that the shareholders as well as the club leaders put in time and effort to make the club what it is now , and how they are constantly working to try and make improvements .
“ We ’ re doing Dive-In Movie Nights this year ,” Penza told The Gazette .
The Dive-In Movie Night was an event created for the public , as anyone is free to come out for the event . Tickets are around $ 8 for non-members , and starts at dusk . Penza explained that it ’ s hard to
have a set time for the movies , as it has to be dark out for anyone to see anything . The club will be hosting the Dive-In Movie Night every Wednesday of the summer , and with big name movies as well . Most recently , the club showed off the movie Sonic : The Hedgehog 2 , on June 29 and Spider-Man No Way Home , on July 6 . Members and non-members alike can swim around the pool , and watch the movie on a projected screen for easy viewing .
The event , while $ 8 for nonmembers , is free to members of the swim club .
