OBITUARIES

Raymond M . A . Hampton

Raymond M . A . Hampton , 30 , of Hammonton , died on July 5 , 2016 , in Hamilton Township .

Born in Voorhees , he was a lifelong south Jersey resident . He was a life skills counselor for A . T . S . I . Inc . of Galloway . Raymond was a member of NA for several years .

He is survived by his fiancée , Kristin Keubler ; his children , Justin Pack , Nicholas Hampton ; his stepson , Dennis Girard ; his mother , Theresa Hampton ; his father , Raymond Hall ; his mom-mom and pop-pop ; many siblings , aunts , uncles , cousins and friends .

Funeral Services were held Saturday , July 9 , 2016 , at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third St ., Hammonton . Burial followed in Greenmount Cemetery , Hammonton .

In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to the Benefit of Nicholas Hampton , c / o Kristin Keubler , 899 N . Third Street , Hammonton , NJ 08037 .

Mary A . Combs

Mary A . Combs , 89 , of Hammonton , died peacefully at home on Thursday , July 7 , 2016 .

Born and raised in Philadelphia , she resided in Hammonton for 45 years . Before moving to Hammonton , she worked at Univac in Blue Bell , Pa ., where she was the head of the accounts payable department . Mrs . Combs retired from Jamesway Dept . Store in Hammonton , where she was the head of the Men ’ s Department . She was a longtime volunteer at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton .

Mrs . Combs was predeceased by her husbands , James H . Stark , James McCown , Clint Combs ; her three sons , James H . Stark , Ronald C . Stark and Gary M . Stark ; her sisters , Jacquelyn Perrone and Gwen McDevitt . She is survived by her three children and their spouses , Dianne and Leonard Ford of Newport , Karen and Steve Masi of Hammonton , Kenneth and Eilene Stark of Reno , Nev .; her stepchildren , Diane Weiss ( Tom ), Denise VanSciver all of Mays Landing , David Combs ( Kristie ) of Ovilla , Texas ; her two brothers , Harry DePoy ( Jean ) of Langhorne , Pa ., Donald Knapp ( Josephine ) of Warminster , Pa .; her sister , Catherine Brucia of Sun City West , Ariz .; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren .

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday , July 11 , 2016 , in St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish , Church of St . Anthony of Padua , 285 Route 206 , Hammonton . Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , Hammonton .

Saporito graduated with a Bachelor ’ s Degree in Philosophy from Saint Hyacinth College and Seminary before earning his Master ’ s Degree in Theology and Education from St . Anthony-on-the-Hudson Seminary and Canisus College . Between serving as a chaplain , guidance director , assistant principal and principal , Father Saporito has more than 20 years of experience in education .

St . Joseph Church hosted a meet-and-greet session with Father Saporito on July 5 . With more than 100 people on hand to officially welcome their new pastor to the church , Father Saporito took the microphone and began discussing a number of things that he would like to see happen within the St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish . He spoke about the festival that takes place in October and how he would like to combine the celebrating of Columbus Day with the annual festival in order to celebrate Italian heritage .

There will be a trip to Italy which will be led by Saporito and open to everyone in the parish who is interested in traveling with the group . One of aspects of the church that Saporito highlighted the most was the timing of the services that are held throughout the weekend .

“ One of the changes I want to make is that on Saturday , masses are so close together , with a 4:15 [ p . m .] and a 5:15 [ p . m .] Maybe we can do a 4 o ’ clock and a 5:30 [ p . m .]. Same thing on Sunday morning . We have a 7:30 [ a . m .] and an 8:30 [ a . m .], they ’ re too close . I was thinking about a 7:30 a . m ., a 9 o ’ clock and an 11 a . m . in Spanish ,” Father Saporito said .

He continued by suggesting that the 6 p . m . mass be geared toward children and members of the church ’ s youth group .

“ Hopefully , we can find people who play instruments so that we can start a contemporary Christian rock group for our masses ,” Saporito said .

Saporito emphasized the idea that he would like to see St . Joseph and St . Anthony act as a family within the parish .

The Hammonton Fire Department helped hang the banner across Bellevue Avenue for the Feast of Our Lady of Mt . Carmel . Sunday , July 10 , 6:03 p . m .

Police make several arrests locally

POLICE , from Page 1 turned herself in to police , posted 10 percent of the $ 1,000 and received a new court date . Officer Mark Santora was the arresting officer , Jones said .

In other police business , at 1:21 a . m . on July 9 , following a motor vehicle stop , Henri Andrews , 37 , of Hammonton , was arrested for driving while under the influence , unlicensed driver , failure to maintain a lane , failure to use a turn signal , open container of alcohol , careless driving and failure to submit to a breath test , Jones said .

He was held per John ’ s Law and later released , Jones said .

Officer Sean Grasso was the arresting officer , Jones said .

At 6:07 p . m . on July 8 on the 300 block of Railroad Avenue , Rafael Figueroa , of Hammonton , was arrested on a $ 500 warrant from Galloway Twp ., Jones said .

“ He was unable to post bail and was transported to the Atlantic County Jail ,” Jones said . Officer Nicholas Rojs was the arresting officer , Jones said .

Saporito is new Catholic pastor

Parish , we ’ re going to call ourselves St . Mary of Mt . Carmel family . We ’ re going to get to go together . It ’ s not the idea of ‘ I ’ m from St . Martin ’ s or ‘ I ’ m from St . Anthony ’ s , we ’ re all from St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish ,” Saporito said as guests applauded .

Day in the Park July 31

HAMMONTON — The Preserving Italian Heritage Foundation with the Hammonton Lions Club will be hosting “ A Day in the Park ” on Sunday , July 31 from noon to 4 p . m . as part of Hammonton ’ s 150 anniversary celebration .

The event will occur in Veterans Park .

There will be music by the Atlantic City Jazz Band ( sponsored by the Hammonton Lions Club ).

In addition , there will be a slideshow on San Gregorio da Sassola , Hammonton ’ s twin town in Italy .

Italian water ice , hot dogs , lemonade and water will be on sale .
