Joseph Anthony Maimone Sr .

Joseph Anthony Maimone Sr ., 72 , of Hammonton , died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday , June 14 , 2016 , ending his final battle on Flag Day .
Born in Hammonton , he was a lifelong resident there . Joe was a retired Captain with the Hammonton Police Department where he proudly served the Town of Hammonton for more than 25 years . He owned and operated Maimone Vineyards in Hammonton . He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War . Joe was a member of the VFW Post 1026 , the American Legion F . A . Funston Post 186 , the DAV Chapter 66 and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 44 . He loved fishing , especially off the reefs in Cape May , hunting and working in his vineyard , but what he loved the most was spending time with his grandchildren .
Joe was predeceased by his parents , Anthony and Pauline Maimone . He is survived by his “ high school sweetheart ,” whom he was married to for 48 years , Patricia Maimone ( nee Cavuto ); his son , Joseph A . Maimone Jr . and his wife , Stacey ; his adoring daughter , Lori Abruzzese and her husband , Joseph ; his grandchildren , Gabrielle and Nicholas Abruzzese , Matthew , Michael and Joey Maimone ; his sisters , Barbara DiMatteo and her husband , Frank ; Joann Ingemi ; his mother-in-law , Lillian Renzi ; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law , Janet and Anthony Brigandi , all of Hammonton ; special family members , Samantha and Pfc . Joseph Abruzzese , nieces , nephews , cousins and many friends .
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday , June 18 , 2016 , in St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish Church of St . Joseph ’ s , 226 French St ., Hammonton . Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , Hammonton .
Memorial Donations may be made to the Tri-Vets of Hammonton , payable to American Legion Post 186 , PO Box 223 , Hammonton , NJ 08037 . Arrangements made by the Carnesale Funeral Home .

Susan Landgraf Bizga

Susan Landgraf Bizga , 52 , of Blue Anchor , died peacefully in the presence of family at CareOne in Evesham Township on Thursday , June 9 , 2016 .
She was born in Riverside on July 5 , 1963 , and raised in Riverton . Sue attended Riverton Public Schools , Palmyra High School and graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a B . A . degree in 1985 . Sue worked for many years as a technical writer , including for the past 10 years at Computer Sciences Corporation in Mt . Laurel . Sue enjoyed traveling and vacations at the New Jersey shore , the Outer Banks in North Carolina and the Florida Keys . She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles .
Sue was predeceased by her parents , Carl and Eleanor Landgraf of Riverton . She is survived by her husband of almost 30 years , Michael Bizga ; her son , Jack Bizga , and her three older brothers , Dave and Jim of Cinnaminson , and Bob of Commerce Twp ., MI . Funeral services will be held privately . In lieu of flowers , the family requests that any memorial donations be made to the NJ

Claire F . ( nee Kirn ) Miller , 73 , of Hammonton , died on Sunday , June 12 , 2016 . Born in Woodbury , she was raised in Williamstown . She worked for Walmart of Hammonton for more than 15 years .
Claire was predeceased by her father , John Kirn . She is survived by her son , Andrew J . Miller ( Shonda ) of Hammonton ; her mother , Elizabeth Kirn ; her brother , Thomas Kirn ( Joyce ) all of Hammonton ; loving grandchildren Ashley , Carly and Andrew Miller Jr ., and Taylor Downey .
Friends and Family attended a Mass on Thursday , June 16 at Our Lady of Peace Parish – St . Mary ’ s Church Main Street and Carroll Avenue , Williamstown . Burial followed at St . Mary ’ s Cemetery Newton Avenue and Walnut Streets , Williamstown .

Ronald N . DeFrancisco , 70 , of Mullica Twp ., died on Tuesday , June 14 , 2016 , at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway Twp .
Born in Atlanta , Ga ., Ron retired from Harrah ’ s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City as security guard after 28 years .
Ronald was predeceased by his parents , Anthony and Sarah DeFrancisco . He is survived by his two daughters , Dena Kaiser and her husband , Donald of Jackson , and Faye DeFrancisco of Blackwood ; his stepmother , Mary Lou DeFrancisco ; brother , Frank De- Francisco and his wife , Sandee ; sister , Tara DeFrancisco all of Mays Landing ; and loving grandchildren Donald Jr , Emily , Danielle and Jessica . Galletta discusses 2016 berry season

HAMMONTON — The Hammonton blueberry harvest season has started for local growers .
Established in 1935 , Atlantic Blueberry Company , fully owned by the Galletta family , exemplifies what it means to be a local family farm , yet their efforts reach beyond the local communities . Art Galletta , president of the blueberry operation , works hand in hand with second , third and now fourth generation Galletta grandchildren who too work the farm .
“ We were taught to always get along with each other and to work hard . With this , good things happen ,” Art Galletta said .
Production and volume out of New Jersey looks to be similar to last year .
“ This year ’ s harvest will include primary varieties Duke , Blue Crop , Elliot and Draper , with a few test blocks of new . We ’ re looking forward to the peak of the harvest to be in early July ,” Galletta said .
He spoke about the future of the industry .

Angelina J . ( nee Scavuzzo ) Paggi , 93 , of Hammonton , died peacefully on Wednesday , June 15 , 2016 .
Born and raised in Hammonton , she graduated from Hammonton High School in 1940 . Angelina worked for several clothing companies in the area and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union . Angie was a well-known hairdresser . She served as a Eucharist Minister for St . Anthony of Padua Church .
Angelina was predeceased by her husband , Justin E . Paggi ; her brother , Michael Scavuzzo and sisters , Mary Tarquinio and Anna Ritchie . She is survived by her sister-in-law , Martha Scavuzzo ; her daughter , Jennie Saber ( Mike ); her nephew , Michael Tarquinio and his wife , Lisa , and family .
Family and friends attended a Mass on Monday , June 20 at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish – St . Anthony of Padua Church , 285 Rt . 206 , Hammonton , NJ . Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , 124 S . First Rd ., Hammonton , NJ . Donations may be made to the charity of one ’ s choice . Arrangements made by the Marinella Funeral Home .

St . John Society to celebrate 106th feast

HAMMONTON — The St . John the Baptist Society will celebrate its 106th feast of St . John in conjunction with the sixth anniversary of the creation of St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish on Thursday , June 23 .
The society will celebrate the feast of St . John with a 7 p . m . High Mass at St . Joseph ’ s Church , which will concelebrate the sixth anniversary of St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish ’ s creation from the merger of St . Joseph ’ s , St . Martin de Porres and St . Anthony of Padua parishes .
Following the religious services , light refreshments will be served .
The St . John the Baptist Society was founded in 1910 for the purpose of celebrating the feast of St . John every June 24 ( the official feast day ). The founders of the society were Giovanni Sparta , Mariano Presti , Frank Gerbase and Angelo Prestopino . In 1931 , the society conducted its first public celebration with a street procession . The society was chartered with the state of New Jersey in 1932 .
On Friday , June 24 , masses will be celebrated in honor of St . John at 7 a . m . and 8 a . m . at St . Joseph ’ s Church .
The present officers of the society are Frank Carrelli , President ; Joseph Olive , Vice-President ; Richard Grillo Jr ., Financial Officer ; Nick Fognano Jr ., Recording Secretary , and John Vaccarella and Nunzio Sergi , Trustees .
