Lake park July 4 events, vandalism discussed at Env. Comm. She continued by reporting that on the fourth of July there will be moon bounces and face painting stations for children. in addition to the celebrations on July 4, Kiwanis members will be sponsoring a magic show at the park on July 29. Green Committee member amy Menzel spoke about the latest news within their group and at the Hammonton Community Garden. “the garden is going great. all 35th year. “this is the first time we’re doing this event. it is like a 150th anniversary thing. Maybe we’ll get to come to it again in 50 years when Hammonton turns 200. We’re looking forward to the [Mt. Carmel] festival next month and will see everyone there,” ritz and Longo said with a laugh. Watercolor paintings of local landmarks done by artist Marie Natale were on display and for sale. Members of the Mt. Carmel Society dished out sausage and pepper sandwiches for guests as they sipped on cold lemonade under the tent. Dan Bachalis and his wife, Lions Club member Barbara Neary-Bachalis, were both excited about the success of the event. “We have great people, great good, great music and great weather. What more could we ask for today? there are so many factors working together out here. the museum is open, the Lions Club is all here, Mt. Carmel Society gets to have an event before their big feast. i know that this was meant to be a special 150th event. People also get to check out the beautiful new Veterans Park sign that went up a few weeks ago,” Hammonton first candidate for town council Dan Bachalis said. there will be an official unveiling of that same Veterans Park monument sign this summer, officials said. Carmel Society, Hammonton Lions Club and Historical Society of Hammonton combined to host the first ever Sunday in the Park event on June 12. the event was held to highlight the town’s sesquicentennial celebration. the Mt. Carmel Society displayed photos from years past while members of the Lions Club advertised and took orders for their Hammonton themed throw blankets. also open to the public was the Historical Society of Hammonton. Society President anne Marie DeCicco and her husband, Lou, proudly displayed the newest exhibits at the museum on Vine Street. “this is great. it’s beautiful outside and people can come see the museum to get out of the sun for a minute. We have a bunch of new displays filled with stuff people have let us put out,” anne Marie DeCicco said. Some of their newest displays include items from longtime Hammonton businesses, photos of some of the town’s earliest government officials and an entire collection of antique toys and odds-and-ends that were recently donated to the museum and are now for sale inside. “everyone worked together on this event. Between anne and anthony Jacobs, who is our vice president here at the museum and also a member of the Mt. Carmel Society, that really worked out perfectly. it’s good timing. there have been a lot of events going on with the sesquicentennial, and you never know if there will be an open Sunday for the rest of the summer. the museum has been busy all day, and we’re happy with how many people have come in and out. We’re proud to display our newest business exhibit, and people are welcome to come in and check it out,” Lou DeCicco said. Live music was provided by Package Goods Orchestra, a group made up of members from Ocean City and Galloway township. taking in the sounds were longtime Mt. We submitted our Sustainable Jersey recertification and a team of people review it then come back with comments and critiques. We’re working towards getting vendors and sponsors for Green Day,” Menzel said. Chairman robert reitmeyer said that he was very happy with the outcome of the 2016 arbor Day Celebration. “We had a really good event here planting the trees at the post office. the postmaster was engaged, it’s a beautiful tree. the town recently put some mulch around it so hopefully that continues
