Bettie F . Davis

Bettie F . Davis , 89 , of Hammonton passed away at home on Thursday , June 2 , 2022 .
Born in Vilonia , Ark ., she and her family traveled around the world while her late husband Jimmie R . Davis served in the U . S . Air Force . After retirement they settled in Niles , Mich . until 2015 when they came to Hammonton to live with their son Tim . While in Niles , Mich ., Betty worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block . Betty was a member of the Pitman Road Church of Christ in Sewell . She enjoyed reading , bird watching and cross word puzzles , but her greatest joy was spoiling her beloved grandchildren whom she adored .
She is predeceased by her husband , Jimmie R . Davis ; her son , Steven Davis ; and four sisters .
She is survived by her son , Tim Davis ( Melody ); daughter-in-law , Lynette Davis ; four grandchildren , Toria Haden ( Nathan ), Katie Landreth , Logan Davis ( Adyson ) and Cassidy Davis ; and one sister , Peggy Pettey ( Ensley ).
A visitation will be held on Saturday , June 11 , 2022 from 11 a . m . to noon at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third Street in Hammonton , where funeral services will be held at noon . In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to : Shults - Lewis Child & Family Service , PO Box 471 , Valapaiso , IN 46384 .

Michael J . Palmieri

Michael J . Palmieri , 88 , of Hammonton , N . J . died suddenly on Thursday , June 2 , 2022 at his home .
Mike was born and raised in Hammonton and graduated from St . Joseph High School in 1952 . After graduation he enlisted in the U . S . Air Force and served in the Korean War . He enrolled at Rutgers University and graduated with a bachelor ’ s degree in business in 1958 .
He retired from METLIFE where he was an Insurance Agent for many years . During his retirement , he enjoyed many trips abroad , visiting a variety of foreign countries . Mike was a bit of a social butterfly who always had time to strike up a conversation or share a story .
He is predeceased by his parents , Michael and Geraldine Palmieri ; brother , Salvatore Palmieri ; and sisters , Mary Staino and Frances Palmieri .
Mike is survived by his sister , Dolores Falciano of Egg Harbor City , N . J .; and his brother , Edward Palmieri of The Wildwoods , Fla . He is the loving uncle of Patricia Andersen , Debbie Cottone , Donna Efstatos , Dina Frederick , Anthony Staino , Robert Palmieri and John Falciano ; and his extended family includes 14 grand nieces and nephews and three great-grand nieces and nephews . A celebration of Mike ’ s life will be set at a later date . In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to St . Jude Children ’ s Research Hospital 501

Shirley Darlene DeRosa

Shirley Darlene DeRosa , ( nee Danks ), 84 , passed away on Friday , May 27 , 2022 after an extended illness .
She was born in Birds Creek , W . Va . and moved to Hammonton , N . J . after graduating high school . Darlene retired after many years working at Whitehall Laboratories in Hammonton . She had a special love for all her grandchildren . She also loved gardening and she especially loved helping others .
Darlene is survived by her husband , Nicholas DeRosa ; and three daughters , Wendy Porretta ( Mike ), Debora DeRosa and Valerie Antoni . She also leaves behind six grandchildren , Michael Porretta , ( Sarah ), Nico Porretta , ( Nicole ), David Antoni , Maria Marcio , ( Nick ), Nicholas Antoni , and Grace DeRosa .
Funeral services were held on Thursday , June 2 , 2022 , 11 a . m . at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third St ., Hammonton , where a visitation will be held from 9:30 a . m . to 11 a . m . Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery .

Woman arrested on Tilton Street

POLICE , from Page 1 in possession of a makeshift weapon which she swung at officers several times , striking one of them . She continued to resist arrest ,” Friel said .
Friel said Colon-Ruiz resisted arrest and was placed in handcuffs and as she was being escorted to the police vehicle , she kicked the door and kicked one of the officers .
She was transported by EMS for medical care , escorted by police , Friel said .
Colon-Ruiz was charged with the following : two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon , aggravated assault , possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose , unlawful possession of a weapon , two counts of resisting arrest , one count of obstruction and one count criminal mischief for kicking the patrol vehicle , causing damage , Friel said .
Amendolia was the arresting and charging officer , Friel said .
In other news , police arrested a local man and charged him with driving while under the influence ( DWI ) at 1:14 a . m . on May 21 at the intersection of Wilbur Avenue and North Grand Street , Friel said .
Officer Kyle Ambrozaitis observed a vehicle that failed to maintain a lane of travel and was unregistered , Friel said .
When speaking with the driver , Robert DeWolfe Jr ., 52 , of Hammonton , Ambrozaitis detected that he had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his person , Friel said .
Friel said DeWolfe was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence of alcohol , transported to police headquarters for processing and released as per John ’ s Law pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court on the following motor vehicle summonses : driving while under the influence , reckless driving , careless driving , unregistered vehicle , failing to maintain lane of travel and failing to possess the registration for the vehicle .
Ambrozaitis was the investigating and arresting officer , Friel said .
Also , police made a warrant arrest at 1:18 p . m . on June 1 at the Hammonton Train Station located between Line and 11th Streets , Friel said .

He was found to have an active warrant from Hamilton Twp . in the amount of $ 1,000 , Friel Chief Kevin Friel said .
He was taken into custody , processed and charged with the following motor vehicle violations : driving while suspended , uninsured vehicle and unregistered vehicle , Friel said . He was released pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court , Friel said .
Norcross was the arresting and charging officer , Friel said .
This report is comprised of arrests and investigations made by the men and women of local enforcement . All suspects and arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law .
