HAMMONTON—An accident involving two cars and a stove placed
on a sidewalk occurred at 10:31 p.m. on May 15 on 12th Street (Route
54) near the Antique Marketplace of Downtown Hammonton, Ham-
monton Police Lt. Kevin Friel said.
Marie Martha, 77, of Estell Manor was traveling south on 12th Street
in a silver 2010 Subaru Forester when she struck a parked vehicle that
was located in front of the Antique Marketplace, then struck a stove
that was placed on the sidewalk for sale in front of the store.
“She remembered striking the vehicle but could not recall how she
wound up on the sidewalk. The parked vehicle she struck was a Ford
F-150 pickup. The oven that was struck was a white and black in color
Hot Point Automatic oven,” Friel said.
Martha was found to have failed to maintain her lane of travel as the
cause of the accident, Friel said. There were summonses issued, Friel
said.
Friel said Officer Gordon Ellis III was the investigating officer.

HAMMONTON—A fleeing suspect that rammed
a police car twice, injuring the neck of Officer Ken-
neth O’Neil, led to a police chase and an arrest be-
ginning at 2:58 a.m. on May 22, Hammonton Police
Lt. Kevin Friel said.
Rochelle Ingemi, 54, of Mt. Ephraim is facing
charges following the events of that early-morning
police chase, Friel said.
According to Friel, the police department received
a call of a vehicle on a lawn on the 300 block of
Maple Street which then led to a call of a suspicious
vehicle in the driveway of a house on the 400 block
of Central Avenue, which was later revealed to be
the same vehicle.
“Responding units, in checking the area, included
Officer Kenneth O’Neil, who was in his police ve-
hicle on Maple Street when the accused vehicle
slammed into his police vehicle on Maple Street two
times,” Friel said.
The vehicle was pursued by officers for a short pe-
riod until the identification of the driver was made,
at which point the pursuit was stopped, Friel said.
“We broke off the pursuit once positive identifica-
tion was made. The driver was identified as Rochelle
Ingemi, 54, of Mt. Ephraim, and was later located in
Voorhees Twp. and arrested. She was transported
back to Hammonton Police headquarters and was
charged with eluding police and aggravated assault
with a motor vehicle, at which time police deter-
mined that Ms. Ingemi was suffering from a mental
health crisis and was transported to AtlantiCare At-
lantic City,” Friel said.
O’Neil received treatment for a neck injury at At-
lantiCare Satellite Emergency Department and was
released, Friel said.
Ingemi was also charged with reckless driving,
careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and
failure to report an accident, Friel said.
Friel said Sgt. Sam Angello III was the investigat-
ing officer.
In other police news, police are seeking informa-
tion about vandalism at Hammonton Middle School
involving fencing and a field area which was re-
ported to police at 8:13 a.m. on May 21, Friel said.
“The principal of the Hammonton Middle School
advised that the perimeter fencing along the Linda
Avenue side of the school property was damaged. It
appears that somebody took down the fence, entered
the field, drove around the field and exited through
the same portion of the fence that was taken down,”
Friel said.
There was damage to six sections of chain link
fence with metal piping, Friel said.
Friel said anyone with any information about the
vandalism should contact the Hammonton Police
Department at (609) 561-4000.
The investigating officer is Cpl. Mark Santora,
Friel said.
Also, police received a report of a stolen blue and
black Roadmaster mountain bike with a left handle-
bar broken, Friel said. The report was received at
8:08 p.m. on May 22, Friel said.
The theft allegedly occurred at a residence on the
400 block of N. Third Street between 7 p.m. on May
21 and 8 p.m. on May 22, Friel said.
K-9 Officer Robert Zbikowski is the investigating
officer, Friel said.

clists traveling southbound on
Route 206, which made him de-

the northbound lane of travel and
caused his motorcycle to collide
with the rear of Ouatu’s vehicle.
The impact ejected Hafrel from
his motorcycle and he received
extensive injuries, Friel said.
Friel said Hafrel was pronounced

Ouatu and her passenger were
