They will do all of Packard Street, and then they will come down and do Grape [Street]. So, you are probably about a week-and-a-half, two weeks away from laterals on this section of Grape. But they need to take the trees out of there before they start putting in the laterals,” Vettese said. after some further discussion on the tree removal permit timeline, the commission and representatives of arH went through each case, located on perspective residences such as Grape, Peach, Pratt and Second Street. as the two sides discussed each case, nine trees were determined to be removed, most of them on Grape Street with two on Second Street and one on Peach Street, and some cases will be decided at a later date as the contractor will do the best it can to save those trees. each tree removed will be replaced, but not necessarily in the same location, according to members of the commission. Councilman Dan Bachalis mentioned an ordinance passed, establishing an energy and natural gas aggregation program during the town council meeting on april 14. Bachalis said it authorizes the town to explore the possibility of selecting a single, natural gas and electricity provider for the entire municipality. “Basically, this authorized the town government to look at selecting a third party to conduct an energy auction, which would ultimately result in a lower cost to all the energy users in the town. The town has done this, specifically for town government, and has resulted in significant savings for town government and the town budget. This would authorize the town to do the same thing for all non-town government users from the town,” Bachalis said. The drip irrigation project on the Boyer avenue sports complex is proceeding as planned, according to Bachalis. “i know they cleared most of the land. They brush hogged it and they didn’t take any trees. They cleared the ground so they can put the drip irrigation lines in. We have received all the permits so we are proceeding with that. That has to be completed by mid-September. My understanding is we will be putting in a dog park at the site after the project is done,” Bachalis said. During the Parks and recreation report, environmental commission vice-chairperson Terri Caruso-Cafiso said the committee discussed the upcoming triathlon and red, White and Blueberry festival, on Sunday, June 29, and the planning needed to help with the action-packed day. Commission member amy Menzel had a report on the Hammonton Green Committee. Menzel spoke about two upcoming events at the eagle Theatre, including a gardening presentation and eye-Opening film Lecture Series. “On [Saturday, May] 31 we will have an inspirational gardening evening at the eagle Theatre. it is a 6:30 p.m…The green committee will be partnering with them, and the master gardeners.
