Several downtown events planned for May , June

“ These events help our downtown businesses . They all increase revenues for the downtown businesses and for the town of Hammonton . We hope these people will come back again and they usually do ,” Iacovelli said .
MAY EVENTS :
On May 7 , the Downtown Cleanup and Flower Planting will take place at the Historic Train Station at 9 a . m . Volunteers will be tasked with cleaning up and picking up trash on main street , but also planting flowers . Teams for each activity will be assigned to volunteers , each team with five groups . There will be marked zones where cleanup crews and flower beds will be placed . The event is free for anyone in the community to attend and help .
On May 11 starting at 8:30 a . m ., MainStreet Hammonton will be helping Atlantic County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs to bring Teen Arts to Hammonton . Close to 1,200 teens will be around downtown , going to different facilities that they choose . A scheduled list of the facilities and events are in the works . Teens have a chance to meet other like-minded and creative minds at the event , with multiple local schools attending .
“ Any teen from throughout Atlantic County is invited to display their talent , meet with professionals in the field and attend hands-on workshops or master classes ,” according to the county .
“ I am very excited to have this event in-person . It is great to see so many talented youth enjoy our town the way they do that day . The attitudes are so positive and they are eager to learn about our town ,” Iacovelli said .
On May 13 , MainStreet Hammonton has partnered up with the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce to bring Business Appreciation Day . The event will be held from 8 a . m . to 10 a . m . behind Casciano Coffee Bar & Sweetery . Participating members will be provided coffee by Casciano and the goal of the event is to allow new business owners to mingle with other business owners in the area .
Anyone in the community can attend this event .
“ The original intent to express to the business our gratitude for their hard work and determination they showed during the COVID- 19 pandemic . It is not easy to be a small business owner . It is gratitude for being in business in Hammonton and hanging in there during the worst of times . Businesses are really valued in the Hammonton community ,” Iacovelli said .
On Friday , May 20 , Cruisin ’
Mainstreet will be held from 5:30 p . m . to 9 p . m . Some new additions will be added to this year ’ s event , such as the 1950s dress up contest . People will dress up like they would in the 1950s style , and prizes will be given out to the best dressed child and the best dressed adult . To participate in the contest , you will need to register at the MainStreet Hammonton table by 6:15 p . m . The contest will be held on Central Avenue at 6:30 p . m .
“ We want families to dress in their ‘ Rockabilly ’ finest . Put on a pair of jeans with rolled cuffs , find that poodle skirt from yesteryear and create your best greaser style ,” Iacovelli said .
The event will also be paying tribute to Dave Bruno , the owner of David Charles Ltd . Bruno passed away in 2021 , and will be honored showcasing a classic car Bruno had owned at the event . The rain date is May 21 .
