of Education Saskia Schmidt said the workshops serve as a unique and rare experience for local art teachers and have been well-received over the years .
“ We ’ re the only art museum in southern New Jersey , and this is something that ’ s unique for art teachers . It ’ s not really being offered in this area , and I think it ’ s something really special and they really enjoy it … They get to interact with the other art teachers . It ’ s not very often they get to do that , so it ’ s nice for them to be able to meet other art teachers , talk and be creative ; make their own artwork . The workshop dealt entirely with clay as the medium of art and was presented by Abbie Kasoff , CEO and founder of Say It With Clay , a therapeutic clay non-profit organization . Kasoff said the reason the program only utilizes claybased artwork is because of the simplicity of quickly picking up clay , creating art with it and getting lost in it in the process , whether or not the student / patient has any pre-existing artistic experience .
“ It can offer anybody an opportunity for healing , first and foremost , because clay engages people really quickly so there isn ’ t the opportunity to give up and

And so , it ’ s kind of this really safe risk-taking ... because you see a ball of clay and people immediately want to touch it , and the next thing you know , it ’ s three hours later and you don ’ t realize that ; you get engaged and distracted from life in general ,” Kasoff said .
