School and St . Augustine Preparatory School for college , according to SJA Head of School and President Stephen Cappuccio .
“ What they do is fantastic for the kids , they give really nice scholarships to these kids to use for tuition , books , laptops and whatever they need for college . They all set those college expenses and they give multiple awards every year ,” Cappuccio said .
SJA Director of Advancement Paul Rodio said that with SJA being a private school , they rely heavily on tuition and fundraising . The importance of the event
“ I think it ’ s very important for us as we ’ re closing our school year to hit a mark that we have to hit for our school . We blew it out the water last year and we think we can do it again this year , it ’ s just important for us to say if we want to grow a lot of things that we ’ re trying to grow like facilities , scholarships for kids , all those different programs for the school so all that goes into the fundraising aspect . I as the head of fundraising try to treat every fundraiser like everything is the same because every event could take care of something for the school and we try to expand the best we could for each event ,” Rodio said .

SJA honoring Samuel A . Donio Foundation for Education
Bryce Young said that not only does the event honor the foundation but also recognizes the steps that SJA has taken to be in the right direction in the last two years such as their advancements in their education programs as well as their athletic facilities and program .
“ The event is to showcase all the steps that we have taken in the right direction in the last two years , whether that ’ d be in the classroom , program and leadership wise , advancements to our facilities . We have a new turf field that ’ s going in right now , we have a brand new weight room that ’ s going in , introduce some of our new sports teams and basically highlight all the really good things that SJA is doing and sharing with our biggest supporters ,” Young said .
Young also credits the community for their continued support as he considered them the driving force to help the school succeed .
“ We still come hat-in-hand asking for the continued support of our community . Their donations and support in any way financially and monetarily , they ’ re the driving force behind all of the wonderful things we ’ re able to do here and their continued support and financial support has a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of the students that ’ s invaluable to the community and to the way we operate so we want to highlight them as well and show our gratitude for their continued commitment and support to SJA ,” Young said .
With SJA being a private school , Cappuccio said that the school relies on events like The Rising and other donors to help bridge the gap of tuition not covering the full cost of operating a private school .
SJA is relatively new since its reopening and the importance of The Rising event is to show that SJA is here to stay and that they ’ re doing well , raising money and increasing their enrollment , according to Cappuccio . Cappuccio is also looking forward to honoring the foundation for their commitment to education .
“ The Donio family that started this in their father ’ s name are committed to education as Sam Donio was committed to education for students in the area . Having known members of the Donio family that have carried this legacy on , I ’ m excited to recognize their family and maybe give a little exposure to the foundation which does a lot of wonderful work ,” Cappuccio said .
