Parks & Rec. approve for-profit lake use with conditions Wednesday, April 24, 2019 • The Hammonton Gazette • Page 3 by Michael Rizzotte G azette S taff W riter HaMMONtON—the Ham- monton Parks and recreation Commission met on april 16 at town hall. after an approval of the March minutes, the commission continued the discussion from last month about the possibility of Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga tak- ing place on the Hammonton Lake, the main concern being the legality of a for-profit entity requesting to use public property. referring to the ordinance created last year, there is no fee scale set up for something of that nature, the com- mission discussed. Commission co-chair Paul Or- dille drew up a recommendation to be presented to town council based on three factors. first, the proper amount of in- surance liability is acquired. Sec- ond, base the fee structure for a re- quest such as this one around the existing structure for fields. and third, keep the class confined to the shallow beach area by the Canoe Club, where there is no possibility of an injury taking place on certain areas of the water. Commission member tino Catania made the first approval, followed by member John iacovelli. the recommenda- tion was passed unanimously by the board. recreation Leader Denise Mazzeo then presented a list of ap- provals needed, including St. Joseph’s field Day events for May and June, Hammonton towne Drama registration and auditions in april and May, the Green Day fes- tival for September 21, with rain date of September 22, and finally the returning CSi Camp on June 28. Ordille made a motion to ap- prove the entire report, seconded by James Borda and passed unan- imously. the meeting concluded with a report from Councilwoman Brooke Sacco about the lake cleanup on March 30. “We had about 115 volunteers come out, so we were very happy about that turnout. We wanted to thank the Canoe Club for hosting and setting everything up and Shoprite for their donations of stuff like doughnuts and coffee. i think Now carrying Blush by Hayley Paige and Maggie Sottero We carry gorgeous dresses by: One Sindoni Lane, Suite C, Hammonton (609) 270-7886 • www.meadowsbridalshop.com Hayley Paige, Maggie Sottero Casablanca, Mori Lee, and so much more!
