HAMMONTON—A brush fire
in a wooded area on the 600 block
of N. First Road was reported to
the Hammonton Police Department at 12:08 p.m. on April 19,

Cause under investigation by police department
Salvatore said police, the Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department, the New Jersey Forest Fire
Service and emergency services
all responded to the fire.
The fire is being investigated by
Det. Sgt. Edward Slimm and Sgt.
Joseph Maimone, Salvatore said.
“Anyone with any information
about the fire can contact the
Hammonton Police Department at
561-4000,” Salvatore said.
In other police news, two people were charged after allegedly
attempting to pass forged checks
at TD Bank on the White Horse
Pike (Route 30) at 10:08 a.m. on
April 17, Salvatore said.
“Two individuals were charged
with theft by deception and conspiracy to commit fraud,” Salvatore said.
Brian Moore, 31, of Williamstown and his accomplice Lauren
Praul, 27, of Williamstown were
both arrested and charged, Salvatore said.
“They attempted to pass some
forged checks at the bank, and the
bank called us,” Salvatore said.
Sgt. Joseph Maimone and Class
II Officer Charles Sbarra were the
arresting officers, Salvatore said.

HAMMONTON—Police joined
town officials in hunting down a water
main break that dramatically lowered
the town’s water levels, Hammonton
Police Captain Nick Salvatore said.
According to Salvatore, sometime
early in the morning of April 12, the
municipal water alarm sounded.

“The water levels were dropping because it was such a big break, and they
were dropping for hours. It was eventually located by highway employee

HAMMONTON—The Hammonton Parks and Recreation
Commission held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
During the meeting, the commission followed up on old business
items, giving a status update on
each.

Works Manager/ Business Administrator Jerome Barberio.
Councilman Dan Bachalis reported on the commission’s decision last meeting to finance 25
