Geraldine Ritchie
Geraldine Ritchie, 85, of Hammonton died peacefully on Sunday, April
5, 2020 at the Jefferson Health Care Center in Washington Twp.
Gerri was born and raised in Hammonton where she graduated from
Hammonton High School in 1952. She later went on to work for Bell
Telephone for more than 40 years and was a member of the Pioneers of
Bell Telephone. Gerri was an active member for years of Elwood
Methodist Church, Hammonton Bowling League and Purple Hat Soci-
ety.
She is predeceased by her parents, Winifield and Ida Ritchie (nee Stur-
gis); brother, Winifield Ritchie; sisters, Marjorie Nelson, Jean Forman
and Doris Ritchie; niece, Debbi Johns and nephew, George Forman. Gerri
is survived by her nephews, Scott Forman, Kirk Forman, Glen Forman, Gary Nelson, George
Nelson and Bruce Nelson; great-nieces Tracey Santora, Cherie Pullia, April Nelson, Cindy
Stafford, Tricia Nelson and Dianna Forman, as well as her great-nephews, Gary Nelson and
Bruce Nelson.
Services and cremation will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations
may be made in Geraldine’s name to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter
Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.

Debra J. Woodruff
Debra J. Woodruff (Vaccarella), 67, of Galloway, died on Tuesday,
March 24, 2020 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, N.J.
Debra was born in Hammonton and graduated from Hammonton High
School in 1970. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nurs-
ing and worked as an RN in area hospitals. Debra moved to Colorado
with her husband and two children and lived there for 15 years, moving
back to N.J. to be closer to family. Debra worked at Betty Bacharach In-
stitute for Rehabilitation in Pomona until her retirement in 2017. Debra
had many interests and hobbies. She loved photography, reading, sewing,
writing, going to the beach, traveling and was always ready for an adven-
ture. She was a Girl Scouts volunteer and troop leader in Colorado for
many years. Most important to Debra was her family and friends. She helped plan family
reunions and contributed to a book about the history of the Vaccarella family. She was al-
ways happy to meet a friend or relative for lunch, spending time with the people she loved.
She is predeceased by her husband, Tom Woodruff and parents, John A. “Cookie” and
Anne D. Vaccarella (nee LaVacchia). Debra is survived by her daughter, Carrie Woodruff
and son, Tom Woodruff (both of Colorado Springs, Colo.); her brother, John A. Vaccarella,
Jr. (Louann) and sister Gayle Edwards (Spike); nieces, Kelly DeFelice (Sam), Alyson Pan-
dolfini (Darren) and Coralee Dixon (Brian Williams); great nieces and nephew, Mia and
Lorenzo Pandolfini and Daisy, Virginia and Josephine Williams.
Cremation will be private to the family with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Neafa Mary Curatola
Neafa Mary Curatola (nee Glaviano) died on April 8, 2020.
She was a member of the Hammonton Senior Citizens Club, Folsom
Volunteer Fire Co. Women’s Auxiliary and former Folsom Township Tax
Collector.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. Curatola, Sr.; loving
mother of Anthony P. Jr., PhD. (Patricia), Carmela Curatola and Robert
J. (Diane); grandmother of Anthony III, Amanda, Adam, Paige, Brandon
and Nicole; sister of Frank (Marie) and sister-in-law of Mildred and John
(Sally).
A private viewing was held for immediate family on Saturday, April
11, with burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pa. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made in her memory to RettSyndrome.org, 4600 Devitt Drive,

Carmen Castaldi
Carmen Castaldi, 76, of Hammonton died on Thursday, April 2, 2020
in Inspira Hospital, Vineland.
He was a retired asphalt inspector for the State of New Jersey. Mr.
Castaldi belonged to the Hammonton Presbyterian Church where he
served as a Deacon, played the piano, volunteered in their food pantry
and was a member of the Glory Bell Ringers. He was a 4th Degree Black
Belt in Tae Kwon Do and was a former instructor at Lee’s Tae Kwon Do
Academy where he was a member for more than 30 years.
Mr. Castaldi is survived by his wife, Lorraine Castaldi (nee Brita) of
Hammonton; his daughter, Kim Murphy of Mays Landing; his sister,
Joanna Mola of Ben Salem, Pa., and his grandchildren, Nick Murphy and
Christopher Murphy.
Graveside Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A Memorial
Service at the Presbyterian Church will be announced at a later date.

the Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department and all the members of the Hammonton Police Department who
helped bring the Easter Bunny around the community on April 11. “It was great to bring such a wonderful bit of
joy to our community at such a somber time. It’s just another indicator of the town of Hammonton’s greatness.
We are #HammontonStrong,” Friel said.
Alleged theft reported to HPD

In other police news, police
were dispatched at 12:17 p.m. on
April 7 on the prime block of
Deborah Lane in reference to a
theft from a vehicle that allegedly
occurred sometime between Feb-
ruary 25 and April 7, Friel said.
“The complainant said several
belongings were stolen from her
vehicle. She may have left it un-
locked,” Friel said.
Allegedly stolen from the vehi-
cle were a gray walker with a
black seat; a pair of tan and a pair
of black slippers; a pair of paja-
mas with cats on them and a pair
of striped pajamas, Friel said,
adding that the amount of the theft
is just under $500.
The investigating officer was

at 3:30 p.m. on April 8 on the 200
block of First Road was arrested
on drug charges, Hammonton Po-
lice Chief Kevin Friel said
“It came in as a ‘check well
being’ call. Police received a call
that there was a subject crying in a

Harriet J. Eck
Harriett J. Eck (nee Negro), 73, of Alberta, Va., died peacefully on Sat-
urday, February 29, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
Born on October 18, 1946 in Philadelphia, she lived most of her young
life in Williamstown and Hammonton. During her later years, she lived
in Alberta, Va. She proudly received her Optician license, and worked as
an Optician at Lens Crafters and Eyecare Professionals in New Jersey
and at For Eyes in Virginia. She loved to travel, and sometimes she com-
bined that love with her hobby of visiting casinos. She was a devoted
wife and mother. She dedicated herself to her entire family, and she was
noted for her amazing meals.
She is predeceased by her mother, Eleanor Buie and her sisters,
Christina Negro and Marion Negro. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years,
Michael J. Eck, Sr.; her father, Michael J. Negro and stepmother, Pamela Negro; her three
children, Michelle Eck-Miller (Russell Hagerty), Michael Eck, Jr. (Shiela DeMarco-Eck),
Matthew Eck (Sheri Kingsdorf); her grandchildren, Timothy Eck (Alexa Jick), Brittany Eck
(Andrew Danokaras), Mikey Eck, Courtney Eck (Malachi Fine), Jeremy Miller, Kayleigh
Miller and Reise Eck; her great-grandchildren, Dominic Eck, Serenity Eck, Sabra Fine,
Ambra Fine and Jensen Danokaras. She is also survived by her siblings, Michelle DeFiore
(Thomas DeFiore), Joseph Negro (Kathleen Vespe), Mary Tyers (William Tyers), Constance
Wrage (Richard Wrage), Cynthia McKeffery (Jack McKeffery), Michael Negro, Jr., Maria
Negro, Donna Ingemi (Anthony Ingemi) and step-siblings Robert Negro (Michelle Negro)
and Hope Negro (Jennifer Lafreda). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and cousins.
There will be a private memorial service held.
