“ She [ Belinda Chester ] could send some information about what people should be planting next week or the week after and then send posts to say ‘ hey , you can get seeds from the seed library ’ and ‘ right now is a great time to plant radishes .’ I think that ’ ll be very helpful so we ’ ll continue to pursue that ,” Menzel said .
MainStreet ’ s Downtown Cleanup and Flower Planting event will be on May 13 at 9 a . m . Volunteers will meet at the Historic Train Station at 10 South Egg Harbor Road at 8:45 a . m . and the flowers are donated by Ron ’ s Garden Center , according to MainStreet Executive Director Mica McCullough . The committee ’ s Adopted Road Cleanup is on April 8 at 10 a . m . and will meet at the Hammonton Branch Library .
Regarding the Xerces Grant for Native Plants , Menzel mentioned that the Environmental Commission submitted for a grant for the Hammonton Lake Park pollinator garden . They were denied and will try again . The Sustainable Jersey Hub will be

Green Committee discusses May 13 downtown cleanup
doing an event focusing on sustainable landscaping . While no date has been determined , there have been discussions that it will take place in late May , according to Menzel .
For the Green Market , the registration application is on the Green Committee ’ s website at www . hammontongreencommittee . com / hammonton-green-market , according to committee member Lisa Zeuner . The Green Market also received a donation from AtlantiCare to provide entertainment for the event . Both Menzel and Zeuner have worked on logo and branding for the event and are in the final planning stages . The Green Market will be from June through September at Horton Street . McCullough is also looking into the process to accept SNAP Benefits at the Green Market as well as a SNAP Benefits workshop .
“ There are two aspects of it . One : we are looking to start the process of accepting SNAP Benefits at the Green Market but when I was talking with someone about that , she said ‘ I think there ’ s a big need for that in the area so we ’ re also working with some other partners to host a workshop on how other towns can host farmer ’ s markets that accept SNAP Benefits . They ’ re both in progress ,” McCullough said .
McCullough added that she is unsure that the SNAP Benefits will be fully utilized in June but hopes it goes into effect in July . She said that it is something to experiment this year to fully implement next year . The AARP Flagship Grant was submitted for a cooling station to help benefit those at the Green Market . The committee will continue to stay up to date on it to see if they ’ re eligible for the grant . The Green Market are seeking volunteers and those interested can go on the website to sign up as a volunteer .
The Green Day Festival is slated to be on November 4 and will be located at Second and Vine Streets . Regarding Hammonton Hens , the committee is looking for someone outside of the committee to take the lead on the matter . The committee is looking into forming a volunteer summit with the idea to bring all of the local service , civic and community groups together to stay up to date of what the groups and committees are doing .
