“ We have come to a decision , and i am very happy to say that the committee will be recommending that we go ahead and hire our own robin Chieco , our assistant Superintendent ... at his point , what we are going to do is we are going to continue negotiations and i hope to have a contract submitted to the atlantic County Superintendent within a week or so that will enable us to invoke that favorite thing we like to talk about , the Doctrine [ of ] Necessity , and then maybe we can vote for Superintendent , as a board and as a whole ... it was a good feeling to know that our best was right here under our nose , and it ’ s our hope that maybe we can keep this tradition going by finding another great assistant superintendent and grooming them and continuing it the Hammonton way ,” Mento said . as stated in the agenda , the board approved the following amounts :
• ratify the purchase order lists for february and March 2017 in the amount of $ 176,045.20
• bill list for april 2017 in the amount of $ 754,687.22
• ratify the capital improvement bill list for March 2017 in the amount of $ 17,900
• ratify the check lists March 2017 in the amount of $ 1,086,814.97
• ratify the March 2017 payroll in the amount of $ 3,035,051.14 the board unanimously approved to award a contract to South Jersey Sanitation for trash removal services effective May 1 , 2017 , to april 30 , 2018 , in the amount of $ 23,520 with two oneyear renewals with not to exceed amount increases each year based on lowest bid . the amounts not to

in other news , arH senior project manager Mark Hermann attended the meeting and reported to the mayor that Melissa Mathis , project manager for Mathis Construction Co . LLC , wanted to gauge the committees ’ interest in having arawak Paving Company pave the surface of Valley avenue upon the completion of their complete utility replacement project .
Mathis Construction Co . LLC is the contractor in charge of the complete utility replacement project that has taken place on Valley avenue and according to Hermann , have set the water lines at the proper depth , have completed appropriate compaction of the underground utilities and South Jersey Gas has also completed the gas main replacement that was required on Valley avenue . Hermann said there would be a pre-construction meeting with arawak if they were hired to pave the roadway .
Before proceeding , DiDonato said the town would need to meet with arawak to discuss the price and timeframe of the project , have DeCicco check any punch list items remaining for the project and ensure that the water line is properly repaired .
Hermann said he would get a timeline on the paving before the april 10 town council meeting . the Public Works & transportation Committee and Water & Sewer Committee ( PWtC / WSC ) will meet next on thursday , May 11 , at 2:30 p . m . in arH ’ s offices , located at 215 Bellevue ave .

Board member John Lyons voted no . the board also approved a professional service contract with Wayne Neville , architect , to develop specifications and bid the following projects : LeD lighting for Gyms a and B in the high school , rebid lighting for the Performing arts Center in the high school and bathroom renovations in the middle school . Lyons voted no .
“ We are looking to go out to bid for two more bathrooms at the middle school ... in 1988 the restroom and the locker rooms were in pretty bad shape , and i don ’ t think we ’ ve done much to them since so that ’ s a well needed upgrade . We ’ re also looking to potentially do the bathrooms in the B Wing which would be really close to the auditorium ,” Mento said . there was a small discussion regarding the funds for the renovation / maintenance projects at the end of the meeting which was used to clarify the origin of the funds .
“ the funding of these maintenance projects that are being done are being done through maintenance preserves which are specific funds that are earmarked to do projects like this around the district so that there is not confusion as to where this money is coming from ,” board member Manny Bermudez said .
“ i believe they are specifically earmarked for the middle renovations … there will be no additional cost to the tax payers ,” Mento said .
“ they can be used for renovations , for anything really ,” Lyons said .
Spellcaster Productions was awarded a contract by the board to upgrade the high school football field press box audio systems in the amount of $ 4,078.90 based on the lowest quote . the board approved to award a contract to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for Grade 8 Science textbooks in the amount of $ 34,528.57 and CP Chemistry textbooks for the high school in the amount of $ 19,478.66 based on lowest quote . a contract was awarded by the board to Glencoe for 200 Health Student editions for grades nine – 12 in the amount of $ 12,387.06 based on lowest quote . as stated on the agenda , the board approved to establish Maximum expenditures for Professional Services 2017-2018 which states maximum annual expenditures for the 2017-2018 budget : Legal $ 200,000 ; audit $ 25,000 ; architect $ 250,000 ; Medical inspector $ 50,000 ; Ot / Pt / Speech $ 150,000 ; Beh ./ educ . Consultant $ 100,000 ; Nursing $ 250,000 .” the board approved a contract renewal with rSchool today for facilities scheduling in the amount of $ 2,990 .
Northeast Plumbing Services was awarded a contract by the board for the replacement of domestic cold water mains for “ a ” wing in the elementary school in the amount of $ 51,990 based on ed Data trade Services agreement . the pipes at the water main are leaking – they have been repaired several times – and they need to be replaced , according to Business administrator / Board Secretary Barbara S . Prettyman . the board approved a request to reduce the fee to $ 16,000 for Gloucester County Services Migrant Program to use the elementary school from June 26 to July 25 , 2017 . a contract was awarded by the board to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for Go Math 2015 Student editions for Grade 2 in the amount of $ 5,884 ; 20 Go Math 2015 Spanish Student editions for Grade 2 in the amount of $ 770.96 , and 50 Go Math 2012 Student editions for Grade 4 in the amount of $ 1,676.84 based on lowest quote .
During the meeting , the board approved Pyramid Healthcare inc . education program through Quakertown Community School District for homebound instruction for student iD # 912979 at a cost of $ 126 per hour commencing March 2 , 2017 .
